Sorcerous Origin: Primordial Soul

Your power stems from the magical residue that lingers from the creation of the planes. This primordial magic is what makes up all of creation, magic, and reality as you know it. While your magic is a diluted form of those who came before you, your intrinsic link to the arcane is unparalled.

This magic may have first awoken inside of you after a near-death experience near a planar portal. One of your ancestors may have mad a deal with a supremely powerful primordial being. However you gained these powers, your body was not created to contain and handle such power. At your option, you can pick from or roll on the Primordial Soul Sorcerer Quirks table to create a way in which your primordial magic is expressed while casting.

Intrinsic Casting

You learn additional spells when you reach certain levels in this class, as shown on the Primordial Soul Spells table. Each spell counts as a sorcerer spell for you, but it doesn't count against the number of sorcerer spells you know. These spells can't be replaced when you gain a level in this class.

Inherent Focus

Starting at 1st level, you gain the ability to hold an unusual amount of focus on your spells without necessarily putting in the proper effort. Whenever you cast a spell that requires concentration, this ability triggers if you so wish. When casting a spell using this feature, the spell gains the following traits:

  • Concentration checks made to maintain the spell are done with advantage.
  • You regain a number of sorcery points equal to half the spell's level, rounded down, whenever you lose concentration as a result of damage.
  • Affected creatures that are resisting the effects of your spell are allowed to add half of your Charisma modifier, rounded up, to any ability check or saving throw that's made to resist the effects of your spell.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier and you regain all expended uses upon finishing a long rest.

Echoed Arcana

At 6th level, the primordial energy coursing through you can sap the magic out of others. Whenever you cast counterspell and succeed, you gain a number of sorcery points equal to the level of the spell that would have been cast.

Additionally, whenever you cast dispel magic and succeed, you gain a number of sorcery points equal to your proficiency modifier.

Primordial Visage

Starting at 14th level, you gain the ability to assume an extraplanar form, furthering your connection with the primordial magic that powers you. As an action, you can assume your form for up to 1 minute or until you use a bonus action to revert to your normal form. Being in this form grants the following benefits:

  • Your body grows in mass as you unleash your planar potential. Your size increases to the next category.
  • While in this form, you gain advantage on saving throws against magical effects.
  • Your spells deal an extra amount of damage equal to your Charisma modifier.
  • While casting in this form, your spell attacks overcome resistances.

You can do this once per long rest or until you spend 6 sorcery points to use this feature again.

Master of Creation

At 18th level, you have become a master of the energy that feeds you. While not a primordial entity yourself, you have the ability to mimic one. Using an action, you gain the ability to erase an aspect of a creature's being. You can choose to lower a creature's armor class, ability score modifier, or attack modifiers by an amount equal to your proficiency bonus + half of your Charisma modifier rounded up.

This effect lasts until the end of your next turn. You can use this ability once per long rest or until you spend 8 sorcery points to use this feature again.
