Mist Wolf
Mist Wolves are larger cousins to normal wolves, endowed with magical abilities. They are native to the world of Oerth, but can be found on others as well.
Lupine Cousins. Mist Wolves are very close in size and appearance to normal wolves. Slim and muscular, they are of human intelligence, with black eyes that do not have the red tinge often seen in normal wolves.
Misunderstood Protectors. Mist Wolves are lawful good-aligned. Being similar to Winter Wolves and Dire Wolves, they are often mistaken as such, despite their smaller size, and hunted. They have an innate ability to detect evil, and are often found in areas where evil is strong. Because of this, they are often slain by the very humanoids they seek to protect.
Suffer Not Evil to Live. Mist Wolves attack evil humanoids on sight, and normally protect travellers passing through places of evil. They are sworn enemies of Winter Wolves and Worgs.
The Mist Wolf first appeared in the AD&D 2e Greyhawk Monstrous Compedium. This is, for the most part, a direct conversion to 5th edition.
