# Artificer: Blueprint Tome ### A Wondrous Expansion ***We are the music makers,*** *And we are the dreamers of dreams,* *Wandering by lone sea-breakers,* *And sitting by desolate streams;—* *World-losers and world-forsakers,* *On whom the pale moon gleams:* *Yet we are the movers and shakers* *Of the world for ever, it seems.* ## Taking Notes Artificers are the tinkerers and inventors of their realms. Their ability to shape reality is surpassed only by Transmutation Wizards-- so the most ingenious of Artificers take a page out of the Wizard's spellbook and bind their infusions in a magical set of blueprints. Using this tome, an Artificer can record the ways of recreating the magical items that they encounter during their adventures, more quickly exchange the infusions that they know, and apply infusions to multiple objects. #### Infusion: Blueprint Tome *Item: A blank [Spellbook](https://www.dndbeyond.com/equipment/spellbook "Equipment- Spellbook") (Requires attunement)* When you infuse a Blueprint Tome, a deep navy color washes over the spellbook's normally tan vellum pages, and runes and diagrams magically dance across its sheets. The Tome is an artificer infusion. It does not count against your number of **Infusions Known,** but it does count as one of your **Infused Items,** and it must be attuned to. * If you lose attunement to a Tome, it becomes unusable until attuned to again. If your infusion disappears from the Tome, the information recorded within is destroyed. Proficiency in cartographer's tools is required to inscribe your Blueprints with information. These inscriptions are magical and no ink is used that would incur a gold cost. ### Replication Once during a long rest, you can closely study an item that you have acquired during your adventures and record its schematics into your Blueprint Tome. * You must be attuned to this item; * The schematic is now an infusion that you can use, but doesn't count against your number of Infusions Known; * Replicating these items counts against your number of Infused Items; * You can maintain a number of schematics in a Tome equal to your Intelligence Modifier. Items of greater rarity have complex schematics that only experienced artificers can comprehend. The following table specifies the rarity of item whose schematic you can add to your Blueprint Tome at each artificer level. (The table roughly follows the rarity and attunement requirements of the standard artificer infusions and replicable magic items.)
##### Replication & Rarity | Level | Rarity | Requires Attunement | |:---:|:---:|:---| | 1st | Common | No | | 2nd | Uncommon | No | | 10th | Uncommon| Yes| | 14th | Rare | Yes | | 20th | Legendary | Yes |
### Exchange Without the Blueprint Tome, an artificer can replace an Infusion Known only whenever they gain an artificer level. The Blueprint Tome allows you to study the contained schematics during a long rest and replace an Infusion Known with another one from the standard artificer infusions list. * Schematics obtained from Replication can only be used via the Tome and cannot be added to the Infusions Known in your head. * The schematics must be first inscribed in your Tome to be used in Exchange. ### Duplication The Blueprint Tome allows an artificer to make their Infused Items exactly the same each time. When infusing an item using a Tome schematic, you can choose to apply that infusion to multiple items. The items infused must be identical (i.e., if you wanted to apply Enhanced Weapon to two weapons, they would have to be the same weapon of the same make.) Each of these items counts as an Infused Item for you.
