Summary

Welcome to Archaeologists guild. The Guild is dedicated on studying ancient secrets and safeguarding powerful artifacts from falling to the wrong hands. The humble yet powerful guild originating from the Kyuba City has spread it's influence far and wide and most larger cities have a guild base of operations. If researching powerful magical items or delving into a dungeon to retrieve them appeals to you, then he Archaeologists guild might just be the place for you.

Joining the Guild

People from all walks of life can apply to join in the guild. The only requirements are passion for the unknown and a little bravery. Please contact MadHatter#7143 in discord if you wish to join.

Being Part of the Archaeologists guild

The guild has books upon books worth of rules and guidelines for it's members but all of these can be condensed to the following Tenets.

Be curious

The mysteries of the world are yours to solve. Dig deeply and thorough, leave no stone unturned. The greater the mystery the greater the reward for solving it.

Be Brave

Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Finding powerful relics from the past often requires bravery to delve the unknown. Not to be confused with foolhardiness, discretion is the better part of valor after all.

Be Relentless

Don't give up, never give in. You can survive even when the odds are against you. Rely on your companions and you can overcome any obstacle.

Benefits

As a character joins the Archaeologists guild they gain the following benefits.

Proficiencies

You gain proficiency in History and Perception skills. If you're already proficient in either skill, your proficiency bonus is doubled for any check you make with that skill.

Archaeologist's Timepiece

This small flat circle shaped object is a marvel of mechanical engineering. Filled with cogwheels ranging in size from tiny to minuscule. The portable clock can tell time independently.

In addition, the pocket watch is enchanted with magic. Providing the user with various abilities based on their rank within the guild. As the user ranks up, the watch is enchanted with the new ability and retains all previous abilities.

Recruit - United we stand

The pocket watch monitors the user's life signs and location, and transmits this knowledge to other watches upon request. The clock allows the user to locate other members of the guild by speaking their name out loud. The pocket watch will lead the user to the location of the target. In addition, the clock will also convey a feeling of the target's current state whether they're alive or dead.

The guild uses this function to locate and bring back the bodies of any fallen members of the guild and will attempt to buy a revival service with the member's own funds.

Private - Always prepared

Whenever you make an initiative roll, you may roll a d4 and add the number rolled to the initiative roll.

Specialist - Not today

Whenever you make an attack roll, ability check, or saving throw, you may roll an additional d20. You can use this ability after the original roll, but before the outcome is revealed. You choose which of the d20s is used for the attack roll, ability check, or saving throw. You can use this feature once and regain uses when you finish a long rest.

Captain - Not ever

The not today ability can now be used twice before long resting. In addition You can now also use the ability when an attack roll is made against you. Roll a d20, and choose whether the attacker's roll uses their d20 roll or yours.

Ranks

The guild follows a strict hierarchy and a member will progress to a next rank once they have proven their merit.

A member can gain ranks by donating magical items to the guild museum.

  • To rank from Recruit to Private the member must donate three uncommon magic items.
  • To rank from Private to Specialist the member must donate three rare magic items.
  • To rank from Specialist to Captain the member must donate three Very Rare magic items.

A magic item of higher rarity counts as three of the lower rarity. A magic item that the guild does not yet posses counts as two items.

Recruit

Fresh from the streets, recruits form the majority of the guild's members and are often assisting higher ranking members with excavation and research.

Private

The bread and butter of the organization, Privates have demonstrated that they are capable of doing more than serving coffee and are often part of a delving squads led by the Captains.

Specialist

A captain in the making, Specialists are individuals uplifted from the ranks of Privates when they show potential to lead. Often tutored directly by a Captain, they work as the second in command for the guild's elite delving squads.

Captain

The highest rank obtainable, answering only to the General of the guild Lily "Lazer" Le Blanc. Captains often command their own delving squads consisting of a specialist and few privates.

The Grand Museum

Located in the merchant's quarter of Kyuba city. The Museum is the tallest building in the city, with some intriguing architectural decision. Visitors claim that the exhibitions move around each day and the dimensions inside don't make any sense.

The Museum exhibits all of the uncommon magic items collected by the guild for general public. Cursed items and those of higher rarity are locked away deep within the ever-changing labyrinthine structure, inside an anti-magic field Vault.

In addition the museum runs an auction once a week for any surplus magic items that the guild may have acquired.

Borrowing magical items from Museum collection

A Member of the guild may borrow a single magical item at a time from the museum's collection for the duration of a quest, the item must be returned immediately after quest completion. Item availability is based on member's rank.

  • Privates can borrow an uncommon item.
  • Specialists can borrow a rare item.
  • Captains can borrow a very rare item.

Lily "Lazer" Le Blanc

From humble beginnings Lily has made her wealth with shrewd business dealings and brave exploration of ancient sites. Now she wishes to share her knowledge and help others to reach their full potential.

She is the founder and the General of the Archaeologists guild and cares deeply for each of it's members.
