Monastic Tradition: Way of Harmony and Discord

Monks of Harmony and Discord learn how to control the world’s natural good and evil for benefiting themselves and their allies. The Ki within their blood allows them to heal their allies while damaging their foes.

Harmony and Discord

When you choose this tradition at 3rd level, your ability to control harmony and discord allows you to inflict it on others. You shoot out an orb that was surrounding you, that is either Harmony or Discord, to a creature within 60 ft of you. The orb surrounds the creature with a small magical beam tethered to it. You can use this feature as many times as you feature as many times as your Wisdom Modifier, but only one Harmony and one Discord can be out at a time. On a finished short or long rest, you refill all your used orbs.

Harmony- When you use Harmony, a yellow orb launches out to your target. At the end of your, they gain 1d6 hit points. This lasts until your next turn. You can spend Ki points to extend it for more turns; IE, 1 Ki point extends it for another turn, 2 Ki points for two turns, etc.

Discord- When you use Discord, a purple orb launches out to your target. When successfully taken damage, the discord afflicted takes an additional 1d4 necrotic damage. You can spend Ki points to extend it for more turns; IE, 1 Ki point extends it for another turn, 2 Ki points for two turns, etc.

Nirvana Unleashed

Starting at 6th level, your ability to summon orbs improves. You now can summon equal your Wisdom Modifier amount of unaligned orbs around you. You can use these orbs to deal damage upon your foes. For each orb, choose one target you can see within a 30 ft radius. They must make a DC 8+ your Wisdom Modifier + your Proficiency Bonus Dexterity saving throw. On a fail, they take damage equivalent to your martial arts die bludgeoning damage .

Alternatively, you could charge up the orbs to send a volley onto a foe. Taking up your action, you begin to charge up the orbs. While charging the orbs, you cannot make an attack or use a bonus action that would allow you to make an attack; however, you may still move and use bonus actions that don’t require attacks. On your next turn, as an action, you release all the orbs onto one foe. They must make a DC 8 + your Wisdom Modifier + your Proficiency Bonus Dexterity saving throw for all the orbs. On a fail, they take damage equivalent to your martial arts die bludgeoning damage for each orb. You can use this alternative once per finished long rest.

Improved Harmony and Discord

At 11th level, the flow of energy in your body improves significantly into your harmony and discord orbs. The orbs now gain these benefits:

Harmony- When you use Harmony, instead of 1d6 of healing, it increases to 2d6 of hit points gained.

Discord- When you use Discord, instead of 1d4 necrotic damage, it increases to 2d4 necrotic damage.

Transcendence

At 17th level, your body goes into a heightened existence for a short time. As an action, several arms representing your monk’s arms surround you and the radiant glow surrounds you in a 10 foot radius. You can use this feature once per finished long rest. Until your next turn, you gain the following benefits:

  • Your movement speed increases by 15 feet.
  • You are invincible to nonmagical attacks and attacks of opportunity with nonmagical weapons. Magical attacks or attacks of opportunity gain disadvantage on you.
  • You cannot be charmed or frightened. The incpacitated, paralyzed, prone, or unconscious conditions can not be affected by you.
  • All allied creatures within the 10 food radius glow, including you, gain 6d8 hit points at the start of their turn or when they take damage.
  • You cannot make an attack or use a bonus action that would allow you to make an attack

However, this transcendence negatively affects your body and mind extremely. Once the feature is done, you gain these drawbacks until you finished a long rest or a spell like Wish ends it:

  • Your movement speed is halved rounded down.
  • Your Ki points are halved rounded down.
  • When using the martial arts die or using Nirvana Unleashed, it reverts back to 1d4.
  • Wisdom skill checks become modifiers of 0.
