## Quaggoth
It is futile to search out a quaggoth. They will hunt you down long before you will ever be able to spot them.

Journeys into Darkness
The quaggoth are a furred, bear-like humanoid native to the Underdark. Because their thick, white fur protects them from the elements and can prevent damage, most quaggoth do not wear clothing. Free quaggoth dye their fur in intricate patterns identifying their group and social standing within the group. The drow see free quaggoth as bestial, barbaric creatures, but quaggoth have a rich oral history and significant knowledge of the psionic arts. ***Ursine Heritage.*** There are rumours that all quaggoths are descended from bearfolk enslaved by the drow, to serve as guards or footsoldiers. They share the bearfolk's courage and strength of conviction, but are much larger and more muscular, occasionally growing over 7 feet tall. ***Warrior Culture.*** Physical prowess and ferocity in combat are the two pillars of quaggoth society. Quaggoth consider it an honour and a goal to die in combat. They are obligate carnivores, and consume the remains of their warriors, as well as those of their enemies, believing that they can gain the strength and warrior spirit of the fallen in this manner. Quaggoths that manage to escape the Underdark often join orc society, attracted by a common need for personal freedom. ***Psionic Leaders.*** Free quaggoth live in small, nomadic groups of 20 to 30 individuals. They mainly hunt herds of deep rothé, occasionally taking on more dangerous foes such as the cloakers. The magic of the Underdark has provided some quaggoth with innate psionic talents. These are known as thonots, and trained as leaders, often taking on positions as the healer, storyteller, or caller of the hunt. After death, those with psionic talents are ritually consumed by their companions, and their skulls are carefully preserved and carried along. ### Quaggoth Names Quaggoth usually have multiple names, some used only by their parents, others used by all other family and close friends.
