Esoteric Bombs

These are four new magic items that do unique effects in an area when thrown. Inspired by CaelReader's Expendable Implements.

Betrayal Bomb

Bomb, rare
This small white dome is dotted with holes and has a sigil of enchantment magic inscribed on the bottom. As a bonus action you can throw the bomb at a point within 60 feet of you. Where the bomb lands, it exudes a hypnotizing haze in a 10-foot radius. Each creature in the area must make a DC 15 Wisdom save. On a failed save, a creature must immediately make one attack against an ally, moving if necessary. Once used, the bomb becomes inert and nonmagical.

Psionic Bomb

Bomb, very rare
This glass cube crackles with pink static. As a bonus action you can throw the bomb at a point within 60 feet of you. Where the bomb lands, it shatters and releases a psychically charged field in a 15-foot radius that lasts for 1 minute. When a creature enters the field for the first time on a turn or starts its turn there, that creature must make a DC 17 Intelligence save. A creature immediately takes 4d6 psychic damage on a failed save, or half as much on a successful one.

The bomb's potent psionic power links the minds of those it affects. Any creature affected by the field can speak telepathically to any other creature affected by the field, but can only understand each other if they share a language. This telepathic link lasts until the field dissipates.

Once used, the bomb becomes inert and nonmagical.

Silencer Bomb

Bomb, uncommon
This stone pyramid mutes sound when thrown. As a bonus action you can throw the bomb at a point within 60 feet of you. Where the bomb lands, it shatters and magically silences a 10-foot radius sphere, as if under the effects of a silence spell. Once used, the bomb becomes inert and nonmagical.

Vanish Bomb

Bomb, uncommon
This pure black ball has the Thieves' Cant symbol for "ghost" drawn on its surface. As a bonus action you can throw the bomb at a point within 60 feet of you. Where the bomb lands, it shatters and flashes a burst of illusion magic in a 5-foot radius. Any creature in the area must make a DC 10 Wisdom save or turn invisible for 1 minute. A creature that knows the effects of the bomb and can see it being thrown can choose to fail the save if it wishes. A creature's invisibility ends as soon as as that creature attacks or casts a spell. Once used, the bomb becomes inert and nonmagical.
