Artillerist Eldritch Cannon Spells

When you use an action to make a cannon using the Artillerist's Eldritch Cannon feature, you can expend a spell slot to simultaneously cast one of the following cannon spells to create a type of cannon different from the three granted by the subclass. The cannons made using these spells act like a cannon created using Eldritch Cannon for the purpose of all class features.

Frost Cannon

Level 1 Conjuration


  • Casting Time: None (this spell is cast as part of the action needed to use Eldritch Cannon)
  • Range: 5 feet
  • Components: V, S
  • Duration: 1 hour

Activation: Make a ranged spell attack, originating from the cannon, at one creature or object within 120 feet of it. On a hit, the target takes 2d8 cold damage and its speed is reduced by 10 feet until the start of your next turn.

Tractor Beam Cannon

Level 1 Conjuration


  • Casting Time: None (this spell is cast as part of the action needed to use Eldritch Cannon)
  • Range: 5 feet
  • Components: V, S
  • Duration: 1 hour

Activation: Make a ranged spell attack, originating from the cannon, at one creature or object within 120 feet of it. On a hit, the target takes 2d8 force damage and is pulled up to 5 feet toward the cannon.

Acidic Cannon

Level 2 Conjuration


  • Casting Time: None (this spell is cast as part of the action needed to use Eldritch Cannon)
  • Range: 5 feet
  • Components: V, S
  • Duration: 1 hour

Activation: Creatures within a 5-foot radius circle centered on a point you can see within 60 feet of the cannon must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw or take 2d8 acid damage. Unaccompanied objects in the area take damage as well.

Shocking Cannon

Level 2 Conjuration


  • Casting Time: None (this spell is cast as part of the action needed to use Eldritch Cannon)
  • Range: 5 feet
  • Components: V, S
  • Duration: 1 hour

Activation: The cannon charges up and unleashes a lighting bolt. Creatures in a line 30 feet long and 5 wide emanating from the cannon must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw or take 2d8 lightning damage. The lightning ignites flammable objects in the area that aren’t being worn or carried.

Booming Cannon

Level 3 Conjuration


  • Casting Time: None (this spell is cast as part of the action needed to use Eldritch Cannon)
  • Range: 5 feet
  • Components: V, S
  • Duration: 1 hour

Activation: The cannon emits a tremendous roar. Each creature in a 15-foot cube originating from the cannon must succeed on a Constitution saving throw or take 2d8 thunder damage and be pushed 5 feet away from the cannon. In addition, unsecured objects that are completely within the area of effect are automatically pushed 5 feet away from the cannon and the cannon emits a thunderous boom audible out to 300 feet.

Doom Cannon

Level 3 Conjuration


  • Casting Time: None (this spell is cast as part of the action needed to use Eldritch Cannon)
  • Range: 5 feet
  • Components: V, S
  • Duration: 1 hour

Activation: Make a ranged spell attack, originating from the cannon, at one creature or object within 120 feet of it. On a hit, the target takes 2d8 necrotic damage, and if it is reduced to 0 hit points before the end of your next turn, it dies. If it is a Small or Medium humanoid, it rises as a zombie under your control as per the Animate Dead spell as long as the Doom Cannon exists.

Omnicannon

Level 3 Conjuration


  • Casting Time: None (this spell is cast as part of the action needed to use Eldritch Cannon)
  • Range: 5 feet
  • Components: V, S
  • Duration: 1 hour

This spell creates either a Flamethrower, Force Ballista, Protector, Tractor Beam Cannon, or Frost Cannon. Whenever you activate it, you may also transform it into one of the cannons listed. The transformation happens before the effect.

At Higher Levels: If you cast this spell using a spell slot of 4th level or higher, you may also create an Acidic Cannon or Shocking Cannon. If you cast this spell using a spell slot of 5th level, you may create a Booming Cannon, Doom Cannon, or Throne Cannon.

Throne Cannon

Level 3 Conjuration


  • Casting Time: None (this spell is cast as part of the action needed to use Eldritch Cannon)
  • Range: 5 feet
  • Components: V, S
  • Duration: 1 hour

This spell creates either a Flamethrower, Force Ballista, Protector, Tractor Beam Cannon, or Frost Cannon. The cannon has legs and is size Large. It has a space where a Small or Medium size creature can sit. When the cannon moves, it and any creature sitting on it do not provoke opportunity attacks.

Choose whether the cannon is light or heavy. A light cannon can move up to 25 feet instead of 15. A heavy cannon has an AC of 19 and a number of hit points equal to six times your artificer level.

At Higher Levels: If you cast this spell using a spell slot of 4th level or higher, you may also create a Shocking Cannon or an Acidic Cannon. If you cast this spell using a spell slot of 5th level, you may create a Booming Cannon or Doom Cannon.

Blinding Cannon

Level 4 Conjuration


  • Casting Time: None (this spell is cast as part of the action needed to use Eldritch Cannon)
  • Range: 5 feet
  • Components: V, S
  • Duration: 1 hour

Activation: Make a ranged spell attack, originating from the cannon, at one creature or object within 120 feet of it. On a hit, the target takes 2d8 radiant damage and must make a Constitution saving throw. If it fails, it is blinded until the start of your next turn.

Poison Cannon

Level 4 Conjuration


  • Casting Time: None (this spell is cast as part of the action needed to use Eldritch Cannon)
  • Range: 5 feet
  • Components: V, S
  • Duration: 1 hour

Activation: The cannon belches toxic fumes in an adjacent 15-foot cone that you designate. Each creature in that area must succeed on a Constitution saving throw or become poisoned until the start of your next turn and take 2d8 poison damage.

Cannon Master

Level 5 Transmutation


  • Casting Time: 1 Action
  • Range: Self
  • Components: V, S
  • Duration: 8 hours

This spell gives you a latent but potent potential. Once while this spell lasts, you can activate it when you use your Eldritch Cannon feature (no action required), giving you the following benefit for 1 minute.

  • You can now have three cannons at the same time. You can create three with the same action (but not the same spell slot), and you can activate all of them with the same bonus action. You determine whether the cannons are identical to each other or different. If you have three cannons still existing after 1 minute, one of them (your choice) is destroyed.

Nullifying Cannon

Level 5 Conjuration


  • Casting Time: None (this spell is cast as part of the action needed to use Eldritch Cannon)
  • Range: 5 feet
  • Components: V, S
  • Duration: 1 hour

Activation: The cannon casts Dispel Magic using your Intelligence modifier. It can do so a total of five times, after which it becomes inert.
