Path of the Hellrager

Demons and devils are known for sometimes putting their own agents into play on the Material Plane. Some are sorcerers, some are fighters, and some are barbarians who follow the Path of the Hellrager. With the blessing of the Nine Hells, these warriors wreak havoc.

Blazing Presence

Starting when you choose this path at 3rd level, you can channel fire from the hells into an avatar of devilry that surrounds you. While you rage, you have advantage on Charisma (Intimidation) checks.

Additionally, whenever a creature that is within 5 feet of you targets you with any type of attack you can use your reaction to impose disadvantage on the attack roll. At 14th level, whenever you use this feature to impose disadvantage on a target, that target suffers disadvantage on all attack rolls it makes until the end of its next turn.

Hellfire Strike

At 6th level, you can command a spectral echo of the demons you draw power from. When you make a melee attack, you can target any creature within 30 feet of you, as you summon a spirit from the Hells that can make attacks for you. This spirit disappears after every attack, reappearing when you use this feature again. This feature can be used a number of times equal to your Constitution modifier, and you regain all uses when you finish a long rest.

Infernal Armor

Beginning at 10th level, you can form a shell of demonic energy to protect you and damage your attackers. When raging, if a creature you can see makes an attack against you, you can use your reaction to reduce the incoming damage by a number equal to your Barbarian level, and the attacker takes fire damage equal to your Barbarian level. When this feature is used, for the remaining duration of your rage, you gain the following benefits:

  • You gain resistance to fire damage.
  • Your rage can only be ended by you falling unconscious, actively ending it, or if a minute passes.
  • Your AC is increased by 2.

You can gain these benefits only once per rage. This feature can be used once per short rest. At 14th level, you can add your Constitution modifier to the damage reduced, and it can be used twice per short rest.

Demonic Paragon

At 14th level, you can become a true avatar of the demons or devils who grant your power. As a bonus action during your rage, you can invoke this feature. This feature lasts as long as your rage does. For the remaining duration of your rage, you are vulnerable to radiant damage and resistant to fire damage. If you gain fire damage resistance from another feature, you are now immune to fire damage. When this feature is invoked, choose a number of creatures up to your Constitution modifier you can see within 30 feet. These creatures are vulnerable to fire damage for the rest of your rage. If a creature you target with this feature is resistant to fire damage, they now take normal damage from fire; if they were immune to fire damage, they are now only resistant to it. If the creature was already vulnerable to fire damage, nothing happens to that creature. While Demonic Paragon is active, when you deal bludgeoning, piercing, or slashing damage to a creature, you can make it fire damage instead. You also do 1d8 + your Constitution modifier in extra fire damage with every melee attack. Additionally, every turn, you take fire damage equal to half your barbarian level at the end of all of your turns while Demonic Paragon is active. This damage cannot be reduced in any way. You can use this feature once, and regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
