Biology and Appearance

Yautja are tall, muscular sentients with crested heads and large, arthropod-like mandibles. From their heads dangle long, black appendages that resemble hair styled as dreadlocks at a glance. Yautja often cut these appendages, which are apparently vestigial, or adorn them with jewelry or small hunting trophies.

Society and Culture

The Yautja are a race of proud hunters. From their earliest known epochs on Yautja Prime, they have excelled at hunting the dangerous beasts that plagued the planet, and upon making contact with other sentient species, quickly took to trading for technology that would assist in this favored pursuit. Such technology has become ingrained in their culture, to the point where it is rare to see a Yautja away from their homeworld without a full set of hunting equipment.

Some Yautja, in their zeal for the sport, took to hunting and killing other sentient species in pursuit of the ultimate challenge. These individuals were banished from Yautja Prime, and were scattered across the galaxy, with some becoming bounty hunters. Despite this, many sentients still fear the Yautja, based on the widespread rumors of the terrible "Predators."

Names

Yautja names are actually titles, chosen by younglings for themselves after they successfully complete their first hunt. There is no variation by gender.

Yautja Traits

As an Yautja, you have the following special traits.

Ability Score Increase. Your Strength score increases by 2, and your Dexterity or Intelligence score increases by 1.

Age. Yautja reach adulthood in their late teens and live about 80 years.

Alignment. Yautja are traditionally taught to hunt with honor, causing them to tend toward lawful balanced. However, there are exceptions.

Size. Yautja stand about 7 feet tall and generally weigh about 200 lbs. Regardless of your position in that range, your size is Medium.

Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Mimicry. You can mimic sounds you have heard, including voices. A creature that hears the sounds you make can tell they are imitations with a successful Wisdom (Insight) check opposed by your Charisma (Deception) check.

Tech Dabbler. You know the venomous strike at-will tech power. When you reach 3rd level, you can cast the element of surprise tech power once per day. When you reach 5th level, you can also cast the infiltrate tech power once per day. Intelligence is your techcasting ability for these powers. You do not require use of a wristpad for these powers.

Treeclimber. You have a climbing speed of 30 feet. You have advantage on Strength saving throws and Strength (Athletics) checks that involve climbing.

Yautja Training. You are proficient in one of the following skills: Nature, Perception, Stealth, or Survival. Additionally, you have proficiency with the vibrospear, vibroblade, wristblade, and subrepeater.

Languages. You can speak, read, and write Galactic Basic, and Yautja. Yautja is difficult to parse, as much of it blends together in harsh roars. When you speak in languages other than Yautja, it is through mimicry.
