Build-an-Owlbear

Owlbears come in all shapes and sizes, for some mad wizard wasn't happy with just a singular type. Polar bears were mixed with screech owls and snow owls were mixed with pandas. This created a wide and diverse species of owlbears that adventurers may enjoy meeting... or may not.

To build your own owlbear, simply roll on the the Bear chart, the Owl chart, and finally the Style chart. You may choose to just use one chart or all three to better create your ideal owlbear. Then apply those rolls to the owlbear template provided in the Monster Manual and in the sidebar.

Half-bear and half-owl, what species was used to create you?

1 Giant Panda. You increase your size category by one, to a maximum of gargantuan..
2 Grizzly Bear. Gain an additional claws ability. On a hit with your claws, you can choose to instead grapple your target instead of dealing damage (escape DC 14). Until this grapple ends, the target is restrained, and the owlbear can't claw another target. While the target is restrained, at the start of their turn, they take 16 (3d10) bludgeoning damage.
3 Polar Bear. You gain resistance to cold damage.
4 Sloth Bear. Your claws gain a reach of 10 feet.
