Mastery Path: Brewing

Myrias is home to dozens upon dozens of different spirits, ales, and all manner of inebriatives! Enter the brewers, the heroes of the common folk who drown the sorrows of those who can't get over the fact that their fields were burnt down by foreigners, or their kin murdered by a band of rogues. No matter the scenario, one can always rely on the nearest tavern to help them live another day.


The brewers of Verifoss have turned this hobby into a craft, however, and started using these brews as pregame when going on missions! These brews, however, are stronger and more specialized than the average slew that you find in the land, with the specific intention of bolstering abilities of its constituents.


This is playtest material for the Myrias campaign setting.


This material is categorized under the homebrew mechanics for Masteries. Note that almost all of this information is subject to change. Effects, prices, difficulty classes can change in future revisions. Updates are generally not retroactive unless specifically stated otherwise.


Becoming a Brewer

Upon taking this Mastery at level 1, you gain proficiency in Brewer's Tools, and you are able to produce and brew drinks that you can distribute and drink at leisure. At the end of every mission, you may explain to the DM that you mean to start brewing something. You may choose from the list of craftable drinks and spend the gold required to make it. At the end of the next mission that the character participated in, you will make a Dexterity or Charisma-based Brewer's Tools check to see if the brew was a success.


Consuming Brews

The consumption of a brew takes 10 minutes. This process can be expedited and the brew can be consumed as an Action, but the character must succeed on a DC20 Constitution Saving Throw or begin retching for the next minute, becoming incapacitated and gaining no benefit from the brew.


A fully consumed brew lasts until the end of the session it was consumed in. Consuming other brews after this one will cancel out the old effect.

Furthering Your Mastery

When increasing your mastery level in brewing, you must choose an origin that you will specialize in. Whenever you create a brew of that specific origin, you gain new benefits as listed below:

4 Some brews of this origin can be enhanced when the crafting check exceeds 24.

You are able to make drinks that are accessible by your mastery level in brewing. For example, if you have two mastery levels in brewing, you are able to make drinks that are of Tier 2 and below.
