# Artificer Subclass: Candle Maker ### Candle Maker Spells Starting at 3rd level, you always have certain spells prepared after you reach particular levels in this class, as shown in the Candle Maker Spells table. These spells count as artificer spells for you, but they don’t count against the number of artificer spells you prepare. | Artificer Level| Spells | ------------- |:-------------:| | 3rd | bless, burning hands | | 5th | augury, scorching ray | | 9th | aura of vitality, daylight | | 15th | death ward, divination | | 17th | flame strike, scrying | ### Shaper's Tools When you adopt this specialization at 3rd level, you gain proficiency with potter's tools (wax sculpting). If you already have this proficiency, you gain proficiency with one other type of artisan’s tools of your choice. ### Waxen Effigy Starting at 3rd level, you learn to craft and animate magnificent candles in the form of wax figures. As an action, you form a tiny candle of wax that you throw to an unoccupied space that you can see within 30 ft. The candle transforms into an effigy that is roughly humanoid with a burning candle wick atop it. The effigy uses the Waxen Effigy stat block provided. In combat, the waxen effigy shares your initiative count, but it takes its turn immediately after yours. It obeys simple verbal commands that you issue to it (no action required by you) but otherwise takes no actions. The effigy's wick burns for 1 minute, after which the effigy is destroyed and collapses into a puddle of melted wax. You may have a maximum of two animated effigies at one time. If you attempt to summon a new effigy when you already have two, your oldest one is destroyed as you do. ### Burning Brilliance Starting at 5th level, your candles burn with a peculiar light. Whenever you cast a spell that deals fire damage or restores hit points on your turn, you can cast it as though you were in the space of one of your Waxen Effigies. In addition, as a bonus action you can cause the flame on a waxen effigy to burn brightly. For as long as the wick burns the light created by your effigy increases to 15-feet of bright light and 30-feet of dim light. Creatures of your choice within that light have advantage on saving throws against being frightened. Once you ignite your effigy's flame in this manner you cannot do so again until you complete a short or long rest. ##### Credit /u/flamableconcrete for Watermarks Art: "Wax Rager" by Nathan Bowden \columnbreak ### Close to the flame At 9th level, your practice with candle shaping has made you able to withstand considerable heat. You gain resistance to fire damage. ### Molten Shaping At 15th level, you have mastered the art of the waxsmith. You may now summon two effigies at one time with your Waxen Effigy ability. No longer bound to crude and mundane forms your effigies also gain the following changes: ___ * Their Dexterity increases by 4 (increasing their AC to 12) * Their cold and fire vulnerability change to resistance * They gain the following ranged weapon attack > ***Molten Wax.*** *Ranged Weapon Attack:* your spell attack to hit, Reach 40/80 ft, one target. *Hit:* 1d6 + 2 fire damage ___ > ## Waxen Effigy >*Small construct* > ___ > - **Armor Class** 10 > - **Hit Points** 1 + your intelligence modifier + your artificer level > - **Speed** 30 ft. >___ >|STR|DEX|CON|INT|WIS|CHA| >|:---:|:---:|:---:|:---:|:---:|:---:| >|12 (+1)|10 (+0)|13 (+1)|3 (-4)|6 (-2)|9 (-1)| >___ > - **Damage Vulnerabilities** cold, fire > - **Damage Immunities** poison > - **Condition Immunities** charmed, exhaustion, poisoned > - **Languages** Understands its creator's languages but doesn't speak > - > ### Traits > - **Burning.** The effigy sheds bright light in a 10-foot radius and dim light for an additional 10 feet. > ___ > ### Actions > ***Slam.*** *Melee Weapon Attack:* your spell attack to hit, Reach 5ft, one target. *Hit:* 1d4 + 1 bludgeoning damage
