Invocations - Expanded

In an attempt to make other Warlock cantrips more viable and useful, detailed below are a list of invocations available to warlocks utilising cantrips other than eldritch blast.

Some are eldritch blast invocations simply translated, such as Agonizing Blast for all of them, while others are truly unique.

Arcane Flay

Prerequisite: Lightning Lure cantrip

When you cast lightning lure and the target is pulled to be within 5 feet of you, you have advantage on your next melee attack roll against it next turn.

Bell of Death

Prerequisite: Toll the Dead cantrip

Whenever a creature fails its saving throw against your toll the dead, it takes necrotic damage equal to your Charisma modifier.

Biting Rime

Prerequisite: Frostbite cantrip

When you cast frostbite, add your Charisma modifier to the damage if the target fails its saving throw.

Bloodchill

Prerequisite: Frostbite cantrip

When a creature fails its saving throw against your frostbite, you can reduce that creature’s speed by 10 feet until the end of your next turn.

Claw of Death

Prerequisite: Chill Touch cantrip

When you cast chill touch, add your Charisma modifier to the damage it deals on a hit.

Crackling Whip

Prerequisite: Lightning Lure cantrip

When you cast lightning lure and the target fails its saving throw, that creature takes lightning damage equal to your Charisma modifier.

Deafening Bell

Prerequisite: Toll the Dead cantrip

Whenever a creature fails its saving throw against your toll the dead, it gains the deafened condition until the start of your next turn.

Dreadstrike

Prerequisite: Chill Touch or Toll the Dead cantrip

Whenever you reduce a humanoid to 0 Hit Points and kill them with the chill touch or toll the dead cantrip, you can use your reaction to animate it, causing it to stand up immediately with 1 hit point. The creature uses the zombie stat block in the Monster Manual. It remains animate for 1 hour, after which time it collapses and dies.

In combat, the zombie’s turn comes immediately after yours. It obeys your mental commands, and the only action it can take is the Attack action, making one melee attack.

You can use this feature once, and regain the ability to do so again whenever you finish a short or long rest.

Freezing Psyche

Prerequisite: Frostbite cantrip

When you cast frostbite, it has a range of 120 feet. Additionally, when a creature fails its saving throw against your frostbite, it has disadvantage on spell attack rolls as well.

Ghostly Lash

Prerequisite: Chill Touch cantrip

When you cast chill touch, its range is 200 feet, and the target cannot benefit from partial or half cover.

Incase in Ice

Prerequisite: Frostbite cantrip

When you cast frostbite, you can target an object or item within range and affect it with one of the following effects:

  • You can freeze a source of fire, unlighting it.
  • You can freeze a source of water, up to a 5 foot cube.
  • You can cover an area with frost, possibly weakening it.

Additionally, creatures cannot benefit from partial or half cover when you cast this spell.

Necrotic Seize

Prerequisite: Chill Touch cantrip

When you hit a creature with your chill touch, you can move that creature in a straight line 10 feet closer to you.

Noxious Strife

Prerequisite: Poison Spray cantrip

When you cast poison spray and the target fails its saving throw, it gains the poisoned condition. That creature can reroll its saving throw at the end of each of its turns to attempt to flush out the poison, ending the condition on a success.

Stormlash

Prerequisite: Lightning Lure cantrip

When you cast lightning lure, its range is increased to 60 feet and then takes damage if it is within 15 feet of you.

Squall Larrup

Prerequisite: Lightning Lure cantrip

When you cast lightning lure and the target fails its saving throw, you can instead have the creature fall prone.

To Whom the Bell Tolls

Prerequisite: Toll the Dead cantrip

Whenever a creature fails its saving throw against your toll the dead, instead of dealing damage you can instead have the creature fall prone.

Toxic Bolt

Prerequisite: Poison Spray cantrip

When you cast poison spray, its range is increased to 30 feet.

Venomous Spray

Prerequisite: Poison Spray cantrip

When you cast poison spray, add your Charisma modifier to the damage if the target fails its saving throw.
