The Piglin

Piglins are a humanoid race dwelling deep within the hellish dimension known as the nether. Once the rulers of an empire, they now wander across the wastes and fungi forests and sit in the ruins of their great bastions, trying to survive against the wither skeletons.

Piglins somewhat resemble humanoid boars. They have floppy ears and thick tusks sticking out of their large mouths, somewhat similar to orcs. They have become nomadic tribes that wander throughout the nether, dwelling on hoglin meat and defending themselves from intruders. Some still dwell in the ruins of their great fortresses, but they have lost their former glory.

Though piglins are very skilled at surviving, they do have one weakness: gold. They view golden accessories as tokens of their fallen rule and thus will consider those wearing them to be friends, unless hostile action is taken. And through their wanderings they have collected many, many rare resources, which they will gladly sell to obtain more gold.

As you create a piglin character, think about how you believe in your races former glory. Do you dwell on the ancient past, or try to move on? Also consider your reaction to being in a world full of other races, many of which you've never heard of before. Lastly, think about how you managed to leave the nether. Did you stumble across an ancient ruined portal and manage to light it? If so, what was your reaction upon stumbling into a whole new realm, one with a sun and sky?

Piglin Traits

Your piglin has the following racial traits:

Ability Score Increase. Your Strength score increases by 2, and your Wisdom by 1.

Age Piglins age at a similar rate as humans, though the dangers of the nether often take them before that.

Alignment. Piglins typically don't stray too far into either law or chaos, neither good nor evil. They're typically neutral.

Size. Piglins are around 6 feet tall and weigh 170 pounds. Your size is Medium.

Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Darkvision. Dwelling deep in the caves of the nether, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Nether Dweller. You have resistance to fire damage, living in a dimension of mostly fire and molten magma.

Gold Forger. You gain advantage on all checks to sculpt gold, and you can tell if gold is real or not by spending 1 round to inspect it.

Piglin Training. You gain proficiency in swords and crossbows, along with one simple weapon of your choice, and the Survival skill.

Languages. You can speak Common and Piglin. Piglin is a harsh language, full of what sounds like grunts and snorts to outsiders, similar to pigs, but it is well developed to those few that can understand it. It uses the Dwarvish script.
