### Origin and History

The origin of the Caladix species can be traced back to Sern Prime, but not much is known about this stage of their history. They did not keep written records until after they abandoned this world, which they did almost immediately after discovering space travel from crashed starships. Some Caladix opted to stay behind, but the harsh conditions of the planet combined with the smaller gene pool led to this group going extinct, leaving Sern Prime a dead world.

The Caladix that left Sern Prime were characterized by their exploratory nature and eagerness to mingle with other species. Since abandoning their homeworld, there is no planet that the Caladix have claimed as their own, instead choosing to live alongside other species.

### Biology and Appearance

A Caladix’s skin has a shiny, almost metallic sheen to it. They are short for most of their long lives, but they experience a large growth spurt in their final years alive.

Their bodies are comprised of two types of flesh. The first is slightly transparent, and often a different color from the rest of their bodies. This type of skin is found at their elbows, shins, and solar plexus. The translucent skin is often brightly colored and is speculated to have been evolved for the sake of attracting a mate. The rest of the skin is fully opaque. This skin is a shade of gray, varying in brightness from one member of the species to the next. The rest of their bodies are largely identical to a short, thin human, with the obvious exception exception of their prehensile tails.

Caladix don't have any body or facial hair, and the hair on their heads is invariably chocalate-brown. Most Caladix do not enjoy the look or presence of this hair, and will typically shave their heads, making them completely bald from head to toe.

### Society and Culture

Caladix are taught from birth that they are more important than any other race. Everything about 
their culture, especially the speech patterns, has a backhanded “tinge” to it, in spite of the fact that Caladix are normally polite and courteous. They are not all or even mostly evil, but they are, almost invariably, arrogant and unwilling to accept criticism unless it is phrased in a way that still caters to their vast egos. For example, one would not say “Your technique could use some work” to a Caladix. You would have to say, “You would be the best artist in the galaxy if you could fix that one issue.” This makes Caladix difficult to approach for most people, but underneath that superiority complex often lies a loyal friend, who makes up for their arrogant nature with a desire to bring the rest of the world to “Their level”, meaning that you’re not likely to find a more dedicated teacher anywhere.

Caladix names don't vary between male and female members of the species, and family names are not used.

### Caladix Traits

As a Caladix, you have the following special traits.

***Ability Score Increase.*** Your Dexterity, Constitution, and Charisma scores all increase by 1.

***Age.*** Caladix live roughly 400 years on average, and are considered adults upon reaching the age of 50.

***Alignment.*** Caladix trend towards a simplistic neutrality, with no leaning towards law or chaos, though there are exceptions.

***Size.*** Caladix are around 5 feet tall for most of their lives, but experience a dramatic growth spurt during their final decade of life, often more than doubling their height and weight. Regardless of age, your size is Medium.

***Speed.*** Your base walking speed is 30.

***Lowlight Vision.*** You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light.

***Natural Armor.*** A Caladix's glossy skin is thicker than that of most races. Your AC while unarmored or wearing light armor equals 13 + your Dexterity modifier.

***Prehensile Tail.*** Your have supreme control over your tail, and can use it to manipulate objects as well as your hands. Furthermore, your tail gives you more direct control over your center of gravity. You have advantage on Dexterity (Acrobatics) checks to maintain your balance. Lastly, it gives you advantage on checks to maintain your grip while climbing.

***Force of Personality.*** You gain proficiency in two of the following skills of your choice: Deception, Intimidation, Performance, and Persuasion.

***Languages.*** You can speak, read, and write Galactic Basic and Caladix. Caladix is a language characterized by a soft, smooth, and free-flowing manner of speaking, that will usually bleed over into other languages spoken by Caladix.
