#### Steel Wind Strike, Revised *3rd-level Conjuration* ___ - **Classes:** Ranger, Warlock, Wizard - **Casting Time:** 1 action - **Range:** 30 feet - **Components:** S, M (a melee weapon worth at least 1 sp) - **Duration:** Instantaneous ___ You flourish the weapon used in the casting and then vanish to strike like the wind. Choose up to five creatures you can see within range. Make a melee weapon attack against each target using the weapon used as this spell's material component. On a hit, the target takes force damage equal to the regular damage of the weapon plus an additional 4d6 damage. You can then teleport to a space within 5 feet of one of the targets you hit or missed. > ##### Why The Revision? > Steel Wind Strike was meant as a spell for rangers, encouraging a mix of martial combat and spellcasting. However, its status as a 5th-level spell that relied on the user's spellcasting ability made it better for the other class it was given to: wizards. And even though it was on the wizard spell list, gish classes such as the Eldritch Knight couldn't use it. In order to make the spell more appealing — and accessible — to gish classes, it was moved down to a 3rd-level spell, and made to rely on the actual use of a weapon. Also, warlocks get it for the sake of Bladelocks or Hexblades (as if they needed more). The original *Steel Wind Strike* spell is present in *Xanathar's Guide to Everything*, published by Wizard of the Coast, and is the property of them.
