Shieldmaster (Martial Archetype)
The Shieldmaster is a Martial Archetype that combines the strongest offense and the strongest defense into an unbeatable combination.
Shield Bash
You gain proficiency in Shields. While wielding a shield, you can make a Shield Bash as an action. Doing a shield bash means you can move forward 5 feet to reach a target as part of the action, and on a hit, the shield deals 1d6 + 2 Bludgeoning Damage. Additionally, shields you wield gain the Light property for as long as you're using them, you can roll to shove a creature as a Bonus Action while leading them, and they gain the Returning and Thrown property (20/60).
Ironclad Resolution
Beginning at 7th level, you can make three attacks with Shield Bash in one use of the Attack action instead of two (even though your Shields have the Returning feature, they do not return until the end of the round).
Brassbound Strength
At 10th level, You have gained irreplacable insight on how people defend themselves. As a Bonus Action, you ensure that your next attack ignores 2 points of the target's Armor Class.
Hostile Barrier
You might not be the heaviest hitter, but ignoring you isn’t a wise decision. At 15th level whenever an enemy steps into your Attack range, you may take an opportunity attack against them with your shield. If it manages to hit, then their movement speed is reduced to 0 and they cannot continue their move, if there is a medium or larger size object 5ft to either side of you they cannot move past you.
If you additionally have the Sentinel feat, they are then knocked prone. Whenever you successfully push an enemy out of your attack range with Shield bash, you may move 5ft towards them forcing them to make a Dexterity Saving Throw equal to your 8 + your Proficiency Bonus + your Dexterity Modifier, if hit you may take a free attack against the enemy with your shield, this cannot be a shield bash.
You must be wielding a shield to use this ability.
The Best Offense
At 18th level, you can make 4 attacks instead of 3 when you take the Attack Action while using your Shield Bash feature.
