### Mirage Dragon Only a true dragon can transform into a mirage dragon, and only if it is born in the Feywild or remains there for many years. A dracolich can't be turned into a mirage dragon, as it loses its draconic nature when it becomes undead, nor can a shadow dragon, as it is infused with energy from the Shadowfell. When a dragon becomes a mirage dragon, it retains its statistics except as described below. The mirage dragon might retain or lose any or all of its lair actions or inherit new ones, as the DM sees fit, or lose or gain any number of other traits, as well as retain old ones. **Size Change.** The dragon's size decreases one step, for example from Huge to Large. (This also decreases the dragon's hit dice) **Damage Resistances.** The dragon has resistance to pyschic damage, and bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing from nonmagical attacks. **Condition Immunities.** The dragon has immunity to the charmed condition. **Languages.** The dragon speaks Sylvan in addition to any other languages it knows. **Skill Proficiency: Deception, Insight.** The dragon's proficiency bonus is doubled for its Charisma (Deception) and Wisdom (Insight) checks. **Limited Telepathy.** Using telepathy, the dragon can magically communicate with any other faerie or mirage dragon within 60 feet of it. **Magic Resistance.** The dragon has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects. **Fey Step (Recharge 4-6).** As a bonus action, the dragon can teleport up to 30 feet to an unoccupied space it can see. **Psychic Aura.** When a creature that can see the dragon starts its turn within 10 feet of it, the dragon can force it to make a DC (8 + the dragon's proficiency bonus + its Charisma modifier) Wisdom saving throw or take psychic damage, or half as much on a successful one. The damage depends on the dragon's age. | Age | Psychic Damage | |:---:|:-----------:| | Wyrmling | 3d10 | | Young | 4d10 | | Adult | 5d10 | | Ancient | 6d10 | **Innate Spellcasting.** The dragon learns a number of spells from the following list equal to its Charisma modifier, and can cast them once per day each. The spell's level can be no higher than one-third the dragon's challenge rating (rounded down). The dragon's bonus to hit with spell attacks is equal to its proficiency bonus + its Charisma bonus. The dragon's spell save DC equals 8 + its proficiency bonus + its Charisma modifier. A dragon, if affiliated with a particular faerie court or wyldfae, may have different options available to it. - *Dancing Lights* - *Mage Hand* - *Minor Illusion* - *Color Spray* - *Mirror Image* - *Suggestion* - *Major Image* - *Hallucinatory Terrain* - *Polymorph* **New Action: Mirage.** The dragon creates mirages in a 60-foot radius centered on itself, making that area heavily obscured. A creature can see through the mirages by succeeding on an Intelligence (Investigation) check. The save DC for this check equals 8 + the dragon's proficiency bonus + its Charisma modifier. **Modified Action: Charming Presence.** If the dragon has a Frightful Presence ability, if a creature fails it's saving throw against it the creature is charmed instead of frightened. **Modified Action: Bite.** If the dragon deals acid, cold, fire, lightning, or poison damage with its bite, change that damage type to psychic. **Modified Action: Phantom Breath.** Any damage-dealing breath weapon possessed by the dragon deals psychic damage instead of its original damage type, as the breath targets the mind. For example, a green dragon may breath poison that seeps into one's mind, while a blue dragon will breath lightning that shocks the brain and nothing more.
