Fey'ri

Fey'ri were not a true elven subrace. They were to elves as tieflings were to humans and tanarukks were to orcs. The fey'ri were the result of interbreeding between sun elves and tanar'ri in an attempt to strengthen the sun elf bloodline.

The fey'ri resembled elves "the way tieflings resemble humans", but generally rejected the notion of elven resemblance as offensive. Some fey'ri had barbed tails, fangs, forked tongues, or horns, or any combination. Some had multiple sets of arms and one or more sets of wings. Some fey'ri were not visibly different to elves at all, and some were raised amongst elves, some never knowing their true nature.

Fey'ri had a talent for the use of magic, and some would practice bladesong. Almost all fey'ri had the ability to change shape, which aided in concealing themselves in society. Other abilities varied, including producing flames, draining life, or resisting spells.

The demon blood within fey'ri tended to give them stronger constitutions than most elves depending on the strength of that blood. The noblest of the daemonfey such as Sarya Dlardrageth or her son Xhalph had strength and regenerative abilities on par with powerful monstrous creatures.

Fey'ri considered their bloodline to be very important. This meant that breeding typically only occurred with other fey'ri or, very rarely, elves. Members of House Dlardrageth, the original noble house of sun elves who became fey'ri would directly conceive with demons or occasionally with other daemonfey. Fey'ri with demonic heritage within a few generations of themselves and bloodline ties to House Dlardrageth would consider themselves daemonfey. Lesser fey'ri would pride themselves on being able to trace their bloodlines back to House Dlardrageth or the daemonfey.

The fey'ri would generally look negatively upon outsiders, but were respectful towards intelligence, strength, and flexible morals.

Fey'ri Traits

Your fey'ri character has the following traits.

Ability Score Increase. Your Charisma score increases by 2, and your Constitution score increase by 1

Age. Although elves reach physical maturity at about the same age as humans, the elven understanding of adulthood goes beyond physical growth to encompass worldly experience. A Fey'ri typically claims adulthood and an adult name around the age of 100 and can have a slightly longer lifespan than an elf up to about 1000 years old.

Alignment. Elves love freedom, variety, and self-expression, so they lean strongly toward the gentler aspects of chaos. The demon blood in Fey'ri tilts that strongly towards purer chaos. Fey'ri have no innate tendency towards any moral alignment but many end up as evil.

Size. Fey'ri tend to be taller on average than typical elves ranging from around 5 to over 7 feet tall and have slender builds. Your size is Medium.

Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Trance Elves don’t need to sleep. Instead, they meditate deeply, remaining semiconscious, for 4 hours a day. (The Common word for such meditation is “trance.”) While meditating, you can dream after a fashion; such dreams are actually mental exercises that have become reflexive through years of practice. After resting in this way, you gain the same benefit that a human does from 8 hours of sleep.

Demonic Charm You have proficiency in your choice of Persuasion or Deception.

Abyssal Heritage You have resistance to your choice of fire, cold, or lightning damage. You are a fiend as well as humanoid. Spells, effects, and abilities that detect fiends detect you as well.

Languages You can speak, read, and write Abyssal, Common, and Elvish.

Daemon Wings You have functional wings inherited from your demon ancestors with a fly speed equal to your walking speed. Clothing or armor that cannot fit around them will not fit you. You cannot fly wearing heavy armor.

Magic Resistance (Optional: Replaces Daemon Wings) Advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.
