### Artificer: Astronomer An Astronomer studies the stars to get a better understanding of their place in the universe and to perceive omens so that they may predict events to come. #### Tool Proficiency When you adopt this specialization at 3rd level, you gain proficiency with navigator's tools. If you already have this proficiency, you gain proficiency with one other type of artisan's tools of your choice. #### Astronomer Spells Starting at 3rd level, you always have certain spells prepared after you reach particular levels in this class, as shown in the Astronomer Spells table. These spells count as artificer spells for you, but they don’t count against the number of artificer spells you prepare. #### Astronomer Spell List | Artificer Level | Spell | |:----:|:-------------| | 1st | *bless, sacred flame, silent image* | | 5th | *mirror Image, moonbeam* | | 9th | *daylight, hunger of hadar* | | 13th | *banishment, sickening radiance* | | 17th | *flamestrike, wall of light* | #### Radiant Beam Beginning at 3rd level, you can harness the energy of the stars and hurl it at your foes. As an action while you are holding your navigator's tools, you can make a ranged spell attack against a target that you can see within 60 feet of you. On a hit, the target takes 1d12 radiant damage, and the next attack made before the end of your next turn against it has advantage, and it has disadvantage on (Dexterity) Stealth checks until the end of your next turn as it glimmers with starlight.
The damage of this ability increases when you reach certain levels in this class, becoming 2d12 at 5th level, 3d12 at 11th level, and 4d12 at 17th level. #### Shielding Aurora Also at 3rd level, as an action you can wreath yourself with a glistening ward. For the next 10 minutes you gain the following benefits: * You emit bright light in a 15 foot radius, and dim light in a 30 foot radius. * As a bonus action you can project the ward at your enemies. Choose a creature that you can see within 60 feet of you. that creature must make a Constitution Saving throw against your artificer Spell Save DC or be blinded until the end of their next turn. * Whenever a creature you can see makes an attack against you, you can use your reaction to give them a penalty to the attack roll. This penalty equals your proficiency bonus. Once you use this feature, you cannot do so again until you finish a long rest or until you expend a spell slot to use it again. #### Starlight Savant At 5th level, you become better at manipulating the light of the heavens, whenever you deal radiant damage with a artificer spell or feature, you can add your Intelligence modifier (minimum of 1) to the damage roll. #### One with the Stars Starting at 9th level, you mingle your body with the radiance of the stars, you gain the following benefits: * While you are under the effect of your *Shielding Aurora*, you gain resistance to bludgeoning, slashing and piercing damage. * While you are outside under the night sky and are holding your navigator's tools, you can cast the following spells as rituals without expending material components: *Augury*, *Divination*, *Contact Other Plane*. #### Starbound Traveler By 15th level, your exposure to the wonders of the universe has altered you forever.
