Knock-Off Magic Items

Belt of Halfingkind

Wondrous item, rare (requires attunement)
While wearing this belt, you gain the following benefits:

  • Your Dexterity score increases by 2, to a maximum of 20.
  • You have advantage on Charisma (Persuasion) checks made to interact with halflings.

In addition, while attuned to the belt, you have a 50 percent chance each day at dawn of growing a luxurious foot hair if you're capable of growing it, or a visibly thicker foot hair if you already have some.

If you aren't a halfling, you gain the following additional benefits while wearing the belt:

  • You have advantage on saving throws against being frightened.
  • When you roll a 1 on an attack roll, ability check, or saving throw, you can reroll the die and must use the new roll.
  • You can speak, read, and write Halfling.

Boots of Orcishkind

Wonderous item, common
While you wear these boots, your steps make a loud noise, regardless of the surface you are moving across. You also have advantage on Charisma (Intimidation) checks.

Bracers of Offense

Wondrous item, rare (requires attunement)
While wearing these bracers, you gain a +2 bonus to attack rolls if you are using no shield or weapon.

Cloak of Visibility

Wondrous item, legendary (requires attunement)
While wearing this cloak, you can pull its hood over your head to cause yourself to become extremely noticable. While you are highly visible, anyone who can see you has disadvantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks to notice anything other than yourself and automatically fail all passive Perception checks. This effect ends when you cease wearing the hood. Pulling the hood up or down requires an action.

Decanter of Endless Lava

Wonderous item, very rare
This stoppered flask makes a heavy slapping noise when shaken, as if it contains tar. The decanter weighs 2 pounds.

You can use an action to remove the stopper and speak one of three Command words, whereupon an amount of molten lava pours out of the flask. The water stops pouring out at the start of your next turn. Choose from the following options:

  • "Pour" produces 1 gallon of lava.
  • "Flow" produces 5 gallons of lava.
  • "Erupt" produces 30 gallons of lava that gushes forth in a geyser 30 feet long and 1 foot wide. As an action while holding the decanter, you can aim the geyser at a creature you can see within 30 feet of you. The target must succeed on a DC 15 Strength saving throw or take 3d8 fire damage damage and be coated in lava. Instead of a creature, you can target an object that isn't being worn or carried and that weighs no more than 200 pounds. The object is either coated in lava.

Dust of Moistness

Wondrous item, uncommon
This small packet contains 1d6 + 4 pinches of dust. You can use an action to sprinkle a pinch of it in a dry area. The dust turns into a cube of water 15 feet on a side, which rests near where the dust was sprinkled.

An elemental composed mostly of water that is exposed to a pinch of the dust must make a DC 13 Constitution saving throw, increasing a size category and adding an additional damage die to its attacks on a failed save.

Ears of the Elephant

Wondrous item, uncommon (requires attunement)
These large leather membranes fit behind the ears. While wearing them, you have advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on sound. In conditions of extreme quiet, you can make out details of even extremely distant noises from as far as two miles away.

Gloves of Dexterity

Wonderous item, rarity varies (requires attunement)
While wearing these gloves, your Dexterity score changes to a score granted by the gloves. If your Dexterity is already equal to or greater than the gloves' score, the items have no effect on you.

Six varieties of these gloves exist, corresponding with and having rarity according to the levels of precision they grant.

Type Dexterity Rarity
Deft 21 Rare
Savvy 23 Very rare
Uncanny 25 Very rare
Decisive 27 Legendary
Uncomprimising 29 Legendary

Goggles of Day

Wondrous item, uncommon
While wearing these bright lenses, you loose the sunlight sensitivity trait. If you don't have sunlight sensitivity, wearing the goggles does nothing.
