The Summoner's Nexus
The summoner's nexus is a place wherein the barriers between planes is weaker, be it naturally or otherwise. It creates one or more of the following effects at the GM’s discretion.
Demesne Effects
- Natural portals into adjacent planes are more likely to form in the summoner's demesne.
- Once a day, the summoner can create a portal linking any two points in their demesne, as per their teleportation ability, for up to 1 hour.
- Beasts in the summoner's demesne take on qualities similar to those of the creatures of the plane that their eidolon originates from.
Stronghold Actions
On initiative count 20 (losing initiative ties), the summoner takes a stronghold action to cause one of the following effects. The summoner must be in the same hex or province as their stronghold and can’t use the same effect again until after a short rest.
- You can summon a unit of extraplanar infantry that last up to 1 hour. The unit's experience and equipment go up a level for each level of your stronghold.
- You can issue a command to any ground unit to attack any non-airborne unit regardless of legality a number of times up to your stronghold level.
- You restore your eidolon to full hit points.
Class Feature Improvement: Reactive Evolution
Whenever you perform the anchoring ritual to summon your eidolon, you can summon it with an additional evolution for which it qualifies. You can do this a number of times equal to your stronghold level, after which you must take an extended rest to refresh this ability.
Otherworldly Units
Summoners are known primarily for their bond with an otherworldly creature. Summoners are, however, prone to communicate with their companion's parent plane as well. At the DM's discretion, if you roll on the special allies chart and roll for devil, fey, or demon allies, you may change it for creatures of your eidolon's type, regardless of your alignment.
It stands to reason then, that they would call upon that plane for allies in combat. The following are sample ancestries for each creature type that the summoner's eidolon can be. They all have a base cost of 160.
