Berry Jellies

A variety of jellies to eat and fight

Berry Jellies

Berry Jellies are amorphous blobs of gelatin have absorbed the essence of the berries they touch. They look like piles of goo of the berry’s color, complete with seeds still suspended inside.

Variety of Flavors. Berry Jellies types vary based on the berry they have devoured. Despite being problematic pests for farmers, they are often cultivated for their captured berries, which they refine inside their bodies. If the farmers can obtain the berries, they can be sold at a high price in the deadly gourmet market.

Harvesting. An adventurer may harvest the residual berry from a dead ooze by making DC 10 survival check, obtaining a pile of berry jelly on a success and taking 1d6 acid damage on a failure.

Jelly Varieties

  • Backberry. This jelly has absorbed blackberries. Once per turn, when the jelly is hit by a weapon attack, it can make one Pseudopod attack against a creature within 5 feet.
  • Booberry. This jelly has absorbed blueberries. Once per turn, when the jelly is hit by a weapon attack, the attacking creature must make a DC 12 Wisdom saving throw. The attacker must be within 30 feet of the jelly and can see the jelly. On a failed save, the attacker is frightened until the end of its turn and must use the rest of its movement to run away from the jelly.
  • Cramberry. This jelly has absorbed cranberries to produce psychic waves. Once per turn, when the jelly is hit by a weapon attack, the attacking creature must make a DC 12 Intelligence saving throw. The attacker must be within 60 feet of the jelly. On a failed save, the attacker takes 1d6 psychic damage and falls prone.
  • Drawberry. This jelly has absorbed strawberries. When the jelly is the target of magic missile, a spell attack, or a line spell, roll a d6. On a roll of 1-3, the jelly absorbs the spell and is unaffected. When the jelly uses Pseudopod, the acid damage becomes the damage type of the most recently absorbed spell.
  • Graspberry. This jelly has absorbed raspberries. When the jelly is hit by a melee weapon attack, the attacking creature must make a DC 12 Strength or Dexterity saving throw (attacker’s choice). On a failed save, the attacking creature is grappled and restrained by the jelly. A creature can repeat this save at the end of its turn, ending the effect on a success. The jelly can only grapple one creature at a time.
  • Poisenberry. This jelly has absorbed boisenberries. Whenever the jelly takes damage, it expels poisonous matter. Each creature except oozes within 10 feet of the jelly must make a DC 12 Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, the creature takes 1d12 poison damage.
  • Yellderberry. This jelly has absorbed elderberries. Whenever the jelly takes damage, it screams in eldritch noises. Each creature except oozes within 30 feet who can hear the jelly must make a DC 12 Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, the creature is incapacitated until the start of its next turn.
