Dragonguard
The Dragonguard is a collective of people of various races, ideals and goals. A conclave created by Dragons themselves as a gift to the mortal races. They bestow upon them secrets and to each of these Rangers; their own draconic egg as a test - only the truest Dragonguard will have their egg hatch. The Dragonguard protects the secrets of the Dragons and Dragonkind with their lives.

The whelp is friendly to you and can obey your commands, it counts as an ally to your companions for the purposes of spells and similar effects. Choose a type from the table below, this will determine the damage type and resistance of your whelp. This choice cannot be changed.
In combat, your companion acts on its own turn. Should your companion die, you will need to speak with the dragon that granted you the egg in the first place as it is up to them if you receive another or not. See below for your companions stat block.

As an bonus action, you can merge with your companion so long as they are within 20-feet of you. The two of you merge and act on your turn. This transformation lasts until the end of your second turn, the two of you appearing in your respective forms 5-feet next to each other.
Whilst transformed, the following rules apply:
- Your game statistics are replaced by the statistics of your companion, but you retain your alignment, personality, and Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma scores. You also retain all of your skill and saving throw proficiencies.
- You do not retain the benefit of any features from your class, race, or other source.
- You can’t cast spells, and your ability to speak or take any action that requires hands. Transforming doesn’t break your concentration on a spell you’ve already cast, however, or prevent you from taking actions that are part of a spell, that you’ve already cast.
- You may attack twice when using the Attack action, your Bite and Breath attack damage both increase by 1d6 whilst merged.
- Your darkvision doubles in range and you gain blindsight up to a radius of 20ft.
