Sorcerer Origin:

Bladebound

Ancient weapons, such as the Blackrazor, often imprint its user with tremendous latent power. Descendants of the wielders of these artifacts may conjure a facsimile of these weapons, channeling their powers through an echo of these ancient blades. Perhaps you are a descendant of a mighty hexblade, or maybe you come from a lineage that guards sealed weapons of forgotten gods.

Bladebound Magic

You learn additional spells when you reach certain levels in this class, as shown on the bladebound Spells table. Each spell counts as a sorcerer spell for you, but it doesn’t count against the number of sorcerer spells you know.

Whenever you gain a sorcerer level, you can replace one spell you gained from this feature with another spell of the same level. The new spell must be an abjuration or a conjuration spell from the sorcerer, warlock, or wizard spell list.

Bladebound spells
Sorcerer level Spells
1st heroism, mage armor
3rd blur, spiritual weapon
5th blink, haste
7th death ward, stoneskin
9th circle of power, steel wind strike

Bound Blade

At 1st level, you learn to bond with weapons and channel your magic through them. You can bond with a melee weapon for the duration of a long rest, at which point it becomes your bound weapon and undergoes minor visual changes to resemble an ancient artifact (such as runic markings). You can have only one bound weapon at a time, breaking the bond with the first if you bond with another weapon.

You are proficient with your bound weapon, and you can use it as your spellcasting focus. When you attack with this weapon, you use your Charisma modifier, instead of Strength or Dexterity, for the attack and damage rolls. These benefits last until you convert another weapon into your bound weapon.

Bladefueled Magic

1st-level bladebound feature

You channel your magic through your bound weapon, giving it a sliver of sentience, and letting it guide you in combat. You learn soulfire blade and soulfire shield, and they don't count against your number of cantrips known.

As a reaction when you reduce a creature to 0 hit points using your bound blade, you can cast a sorcerer spell with a casting time of one action as a reaction. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your charisma modifier, and regain expended uses on a short or long rest.

Extra attack

6th-level bladebound feature

You can attack twice, instead of once, whenever you take the Attack action on your turn. Moreover, you can cast one of your cantrips in place of one of those attacks.

Soulfire lance

14th-level bladebound feature

You gain the ability to jump through reality using your bound blade. Your bound weapon gains the thrown property.

As an action, you can throw your bound weapon to a point within 60ft of you. Make a ranged weapon attack if you target a creature. Whether you hit or miss, you instantly teleport to the closest unoccupied space near the point and summon your bound weapon to your hand.

You can spend 1 sorcery point when you use this action to make the thrown attack deal bonus damage equal to your sorcerer level of any damage type of your choice.

Warmage Ascension

At 18th level, you learn to effortlessly combine martial and arcane arts, using your bound blade as a catalyst.

When you cast a spell of 1st level or higher, you can make one weapon attack immediately after casting the spell (no action required) using your bound blade against one of the targets of the spell.

Soulfire Blade

Evocation cantrip

  • Casting Time: 1 action
  • Range: Self (5-foot radius)
  • Components: M (your bound blade)
  • Duration: Instantaneous

As part of the action used to cast this spell, you must make a melee attack with your bound blade against one creature within the spell's range, otherwise the spell fails. On a hit, the target suffers the attack's normal effects, and your bound blade bolsters you, giving you temporary hit points equal to your charisma modifier.

This spell's damage and the temporary hit points increase when you reach higher levels in sorcerer. At 5th level, the melee attack deals an extra 1d6 force damage, and the temporary hit points increase by 1d6. Both rolls increase by 1d6 at 11th and 17th level.

Soulfire Shield

Abjuration cantrip

  • Casting Time: 1 bonus action
  • Range: Self
  • Components: M (your bound blade)
  • Duration: 1 minute, concentration

You channel your sorcerous power through your bound blade, giving you enhanced prowess in battle. For the duration or until you wear an armor or hold anything other than your bound blade, you gain a +2 bonus to AC and saving throws.

The bonus increases when you reach higher levels in sorcerer. The bonus to AC and saving throws increase by 1 at 5th,11th and 17th level.
