Paladin: Oath of the White-Silver Dragon

Legend

Bards tell the tale of a land called Endiness where long ago the mortal races were ruled by winged tyrants who controlled all aspects of the mortal creature’s lives and, eventually, even their deaths. The winged creatures, known as Winglies, were eventually contested by a coalition of the enslaved mortal races who rose up in a bloody rebellion to throw off their shackles. The Winglies had powerful magics on their side, however, and the mortal creatures lost again and again. Yet this bloodshed was not in vain as the zeal of the rebels impressed Ancient and powerful beings known as Dragons. Seven Dragons formed a pact with the mortal rebels; that they would sacrifice themselves to bind their souls and Spirits with the mortals, giving them the strength even the odds against the Winglies. The White-Silver Dragon was one of these Seven unfathomably powerful beings. The White-Silver Dragon is a being of mercy and benificience. Conflict is no place for the kindhearted, yet despite this Paladins who have taken this oath endeavor to show love and kindness to all they come across. This extends to noncombatants, allies and even former enemies. Even so, Paladins of the White-Silver Dragon are deadly in combat, utilizing their bows and arrows to lethal effect against their foes.

Tenets of the White-Silver Dragon

The tenets of the Oath of the White-Silver Dragon focus on kindness in direct opposition to the callous violence of the world. The four virtues that earn the recognition of the White-Silver Dragon are:

  • Fight So Others Need Not: Pacifism is something to aspire to, a virtue to be held in highest esteem. So long as you keep to this Oath, it is also unattainable for you. You fight so others do not need to, in hopes that they may live lives of peace
  • Honor Hallowed Ground: Holy places are to be protected and, if possible, propagated. Temples dedicated to healing should be founded in honor of the White-Silver Dragon and the holy places of deities should be honored and respected.
  • Provide Alms to the Needy: Service to other is its own reward. The White-Silver Dragon asks those who swear the Oath to dedicate their downtime to aiding the sick and less fortunate.
  • Honor Sacrifice: Your way has been paved by fallen heroes. You stand on the shoulders of the giants of the past, their sacrifices giving you the chance to change the world for the better. Respect the lives that have been given, honor their spirits, ensure their deaths are not in vain.

Oath Spells

You gain oath spells at the paladin levels listed.

Paladin Level 3: Spare the Dying, Resistance

Paladin Level 5: Protection from Poison, Lesser Restoration

Paladin Level 9: Revivify, Beacon of Hope

Paladin Level 13: Resilient Sphere, Sickening Radiance

Paladin Level 17: Hallow, Dawn

Channel Divinity

When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options.

  • Spirit of the White-Silver Dragon: Starting when you pledge this Oath at 3rd level you gain access to Spirit Points (SP) which allow you to access and utilize the abilities of the Dragoon Spirit. You have a maximum pool of Spirit Points equal to your Paladin class level + your proficiency bonus. You gain one Spirit Point each time you succeed at hitting an opponent when using the attack action on your turn. You may expend SP to utilize various abilities of this path as detailed below.
  • Archer of Mille Seseau: As an action you may choose to expend SP in order to imbue your ammunition with one of your Oath Spells, transforming the arrow into a beam of light approximating an arrow in shape. The SP cost to do so is equal to half the level the Oath Spell is acquired at rounded down. If the spell requires touch or is targeted at a single creature you must succeed on an attack roll on the target to successfully hit, doing no damage from the arrow but activating the spell as if you had touched the target. You have a +5 to hit if the target is a willing ally, in addition to your standard attack bonuses. Otherwise, you may fire the arrow at a location within sight and cast the Oath Spell as if the arrow is the source.

Dragoon Form

Your mercy and kindheartedness has been recognized by the Spirit of the White-Silver Dragon. Beginning at the 7th level as a bonus action you are able to spend 5SP to activate your Dragoon form, taking on the aspects of the dragon knight. You gain shining wings which grant you a flying speed equal to your movement speed. On each subsequent turn after activating your Dragoon form you may use your bonus action at the start of your turn to spend 1SP to maintain this form. While in this form you give off a healing aura of light. You and friendly creatures within 10 feet of you have resistance to Poison and Necrotic damage and can not gain the Poisoned condition. Those with the Poisoned condition already are healed, losing this condition when within range of the aura. At 18th level, the range of this aura increases to 30 feet. You may dismiss this form, returning to normal as a bonus action on your turn. Otherwise you are forced to do so at the end of your turn when you drop to 0SP or when you are reduced to 0HP. You can not regain expended SP until you revert from Dragoon form.

Heaven's Gate

Beginning at 15th level, you may expend 10SP and call on the healing light of the White-Silver Dragoon spirit during a Short Rest. For the next hour, all allies within 30 feet regain the maximum number of hit points for any Hit Die they spend.

White-Silver Dragon

Beginning at the 20th level you have gained access to final level of Dragoon magic. While in Dragoon form you may use an action and spend 12SP to manifest the physical form of the White-Silver Dragon. You fire a spirit arrow directly above you which transforms into the shining white visage of the White-Silver Dragon. Your Lay On Hands pool refills to its maximum amount. So long as you remain in Dragoon Form you may imbue your arrows with this magic and perform the following actions:

  • You may subtract from your Lay on Hands pool to augment healing spells you cast, adding any of the remaining available pool to the amount the creature(s) you target would heal. You may do this as many times as you wish until you revert from Dragoon Form or until your Lay On Hands pool is depleted.
  • You may subtract from your Lay on Hands pool to augment your attacks, adding any of the remaining available pool to the damage after you succeed on an attack. The additional damage counts as radiant damage against the creature. You may do this as many times as you wish until you revert from Dragoon Form or until your Lay On Hands pool is depleted.
