The Giver Of Gifts
Warlock Patron: The Giver of Gifts
Your 2020 Gift From Lightkeeper Studios
Forward
Welcome, Adventurers and DM's. What lays in these pages is the first step of a dream. For a great many years, I have had a dream to start my own tabletop gaming studio, because games like D&D, Deadlands, and more have always granted me respite in a weary and difficult world. With everything occuring in 2020, I found myself with significantly more free time on my hands, and a much larger need for that respite. It is because of this I chose to launch Lightkeeper Studios this winter, and provide you all with what I hope will be something that helps keep that darkness at bay at least a little bit.
In this, what I hope will be the first of many, many, pieces of content, you'll meet The Giver of Gifts, the literal embodiment of the holiday. While it is tailored to "Christmas" which I celebrate, I do hope you feel comfortable re-skinning, and tailoring the aesthetics inside to fit your preferred celebration.
I truly hope you enjoy, because we all have a story to tell, ever single one of us, and the fun part in both tabletop and life, is we get to fill the pages. Good, or bad, high's and lows, our stories are our own, and no one else's and I am truly, unfathomably greatful to be a part of your story, even just for a moment.
Live Well. Do Good. Hold Fast. I believe in you.
- Jay B.
Owner and Founder

Additional Thanks
A special thanks goes out to the following: My wife and kids who had my back while I worked on this and push me to be be better every day, TJ My Rules Lawyer friend who helped with QA and Balance The Community Cast Crew who by virtue of being a dope group of folks inspire me to be more, and hone my tabletop skills daily. CYMYKMatter and Vid from the Penny Arcade Expo Community Discord who got me back into D&D years after I walked away, and taught me how to DM. And so many other creators who inspire me so much, that it would be impossible to list them all.
The Giver of Gifts
Your Patron is an otherworldly spirit of kindness, cheer, and justice. They slumber, in the far north, all but one month of the year, awakening annually, to spread joy to those deserving, and mete out justice to the evil. While they slumber, they are still always watching, and taking notes on whether the people of the world are naughty or nice. During their annual month of activity, they enter the material plane, and appear to be everywhere at once, though they are seldom seen.
Those that follow this patron seek to uphold this standard all year round, spreading cheer, and are easily spotted by their festive garb, larger than life personalities, and propensity for always having an upbeat personality… until they come across someone naughty, and then they stand ready to take notes, names, and provide appropriate punishment.
One day you hope to meet the Giver of Gifts yourself, but until then, you will do whatever you can to live up to their ideals.

Bonus Cantrips
At 1st Level, you learn the Dancing Lights and Ray of Frost cantrips. They count as warlock cantrips for you, but they don’t count against your number of cantrips known. Additionally the dancing lights can be wreathed in garland, bells, and holly should you choose.
Gift Givers Bag
At 1st level, you gain a bag of holding, which resembles a large burlap sack. 1d6 times/day you can produce an exquisitely wrapped, but otherwise mundane gift valued at no more than 100gp to give freely to another character. Any attempt to use this gift for selfish means (Examples: Selling it/using It for material gain/bribery) results in the contents changing to a pile of coal. On using the gift selfishly, roll 1d20, on a 1 the Gift Givers Bag Vanishes until you have been judged Nice by The Giver of Gifts. Otherwise this bag may be used as a normal bag of holding. Should the bag be moved more than 60’ away, it can be summoned back to your hand as an action.
Gift Givers Garb
At 6th level, you gain the ability to wreath yourself in unbridled cheer, and joy, that inspires those around you to want to be the best versions of themselves. Once per long rest, as a bonus action, you appear to be clothed in full holiday garb, this can take the appearance of anything from a red suit and cap, to a festive sweater, to being fully decked out with blinky lights, and garland. This effect lasts for 10 minutes, and grants advantage on persuasion checks, as the person you are speaking with is filled with a sense of warmth, cheer, and a desire to be Nice.
Gift Givers Sight
Gift Givers Judgement
At 14th Level, you gain access to the powers of judgement typically reserved for the Gift Giver themselves. As an action you can: Move up to your move speed without provoking an attack of opportunity, Cast “Heart Sight” on the target of your choice, and may cast either Eye Bite if the target is Evil or Heal if the creature is good. If the creature is Neutral, or Unknown, you may cast either. Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.

- Duration: Concentration, Up to 10 Minutes
For the duration, you know if there is an aberration, celestial, elemental, fey, fiend, or undead within 30 feet of you, as well as where the creature is located. Similarly, you know if there is a place or object within 30 feet of you that has been magically consecrated or desecrated. The spell can penetrate most barriers, but it is blocked by 1 foot of stone, 1 inch of common metal, a thin sheet of lead, or 3 feet of wood or dirt.
Far Step

- Range: Self
- Components: V
- Duration: Concentration, Up to 1 Minute

Find Reindeer
2nd-Level Conjuration
- Casting Time: 10 Minutes
- Range: 30 Feet
- Components: V, S
- Duration: Instantaineous
You summon a spirit that assumes the form of an unusually intelligent, strong, and loyal reindeer, creating a long-lasting bond with it. Appearing in an unoccupied space within range, It has the statistics of a reindeer, though it is a celestial, fey, or fiend (your choice) instead of its normal type. Additionally, your reindeers Intelligence becomes 6, and it gains the ability to understand one language of your choice that you speak.
Your reindeer serves you as a mount, both in combat and out, and you have an instinctive bond with it that allows you to fight as a seamless unit. While mounted on your reindeer, you can make any spell you cast that targets only you also target your reindeer.
When the reindeer drops to 0 hit points, it disappears, leaving behind no physical form. You can also dismiss your reindeer at any time as an action, causing it to disappear. In either case, casting this spell again summons the same reindeer, restored to its hit point maximum.
While your reindeer is within 1 mile of you, you can communicate with each other telepathically.
You can’t have more than one reindeer bonded by this spell at a time. As an action, you can release the reindeer from its bond at any time, causing it to disappear. See Appendix: Summons for Reindeer Stats.
Geas
5th-Level Enchantment
- Casting Time: 1 Minute
- Range: 60 feet
- Components: V
- Duration: 30 Days
You place a magical command on a creature that you can see within range, forcing it to carry out some service or refrain from some action or course of activity as you decide. If the creature can understand you, it must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or become charmed by you for the duration. While the creature is charmed by you, it takes 5d10 psychic damage each time it acts in a manner directly counter to your instructions, but no more than once each day. A creature that can't understand you is unaffected by the spell.
You can issue any command you choose, short of an activity that would result in certain death. Should you issue a suicidal command, the spell ends.
You can end the spell early by using an action to dismiss it. A remove curse, greater restoration, or wish spell also ends it.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 7th or 8th level, the duration is 1 year. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 9th level, the spell lasts until it is ended by one of the spells mentioned above.
Spells List (Continued)

- Duration: Concentration, Up to 1 Minute
You touch a creature and magically know the creature's current emotional state. If the target fails a Charisma saving throw, you also know the creature's Alignment. Celestials, Fiends, and Undead automatically fail the saving throw.
Holiday Guardians
3rd-Level Conjuration
- Casting Time: 1 Action
- Range: Self (15-Foot Radius)
- Components: V, S, M (A Small Bell, A Vial of Milk, Cookie Crumbs)
- Duration: Concentration, Up to 1 Minute
You call forth the guardians of the holiday to protect you. They flit around you to a distance of 15 feet for the duration. They appear to be gnomes of some sort, dressed in green, with pointy hats, and pointier knives.
When you cast this spell, you can designate any number of creatures you can see to be unaffected by it. An affected creature’s speed is halved in the area, and when the creature enters the area for the first time on a turn or starts its turn there, it must make a Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, the creature takes 3d8 radiant damage. On a successful save, the creature takes half as much damage.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 4th level or higher, the damage increases by 1d8 for each slot level above 3rd.
Kringle's Crazed Caroling
1st-Level Enchantment
- Casting Time: 1 Action
- Range: 30 Feet
- Components: V, S, M (A bough of Holly, a Sprig of Mistletoe)
- Duration: Concentration, Up to one minute
A creature of your choice that you can see within range is overwhelmed with a sense of holiday cheer and compelled to burst into carols and go wassailing. The target must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or stand in place singing carols at the top of its lungs for the duration. A creature with an Intelligence score of 4 or less isn’t affected.
At the end of each of its turns, and each time it takes damage, the target can make another Wisdom saving throw. The target has advantage on the saving throw if it’s triggered by damage. On a success, the spell ends.
Summon Krampus
1st-Level Enchantment
- Casting Time: 1 Action
- Range: 60 Feet
- Components: V, S, M (A lump of pure anthracite coal carved into a skull, a page containing a confession of a foul act)
- Duration: Concentration, Up to one hour
You utter foul words, summoning Krampus from the Gift Givers hallowed grounds. Krampus appears to hunt the naughty, in an unoccupied space you can see within range, and disappears when it drops to 0 hit points or when the spell ends.
Roll initiative for Krampus, which has its own turns. When you summon it and on each of your turns thereafter, you can issue a verbal command to it (requiring no action on your part), telling it what it must do on its next turn. If you issue no command, it spends its turn attacking any creature within reach that has attacked it. As part of casting the spell, you can form a circle on the ground with the coal used as a material component.
The circle is large enough to encompass your space. While the spell lasts, the summoned demon can’t cross the circle or harm it, and it can’t target anyone within it. Using the material component in this manner consumes it when the spell ends. See Appendix: Summons for Reindeer Stats.
Additional Eldritch Invocations
At 2nd Level, a warlock gains the Eldritch Invcations feature. Here are new options for that feature, in addition tot he options in the Player's Handbook.
If an eldritch invocation has a prerequisite, you must meet it to learn the invocation. You can learn the invocation at the same time that you meet it's prerequisite. L level prerequisite refers to your level in this class.
Festive Blast
(Prerequisite: Eldritch Blast Cantrip)
"Where's your holiday spirit?" Your Eldritch Blast now smells of holiday cheer. Choose a scent of Peppermint, Mulled Wine, Pine Trees, or Fresh Fallen Snow. Once on each of your turns when you hit a creature with Eldritch Blast, they are immediately donned with a festive hat, and must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or take an additional 1d4 psychic damage and have disadvantage on the next Attack roll it makes before the end of its next turn, as it briefly fills with a sense of wonderment and joy.
Keeper of the List
(Prerequisite: Pact of the Tome, 5th Level)
"Making a List and Checking it Twice" An additional page springs into existence in your tome. When that page is turned to, it unfurls into a list in front of you. You may cast Heart Sight an additional (Charisma Modifier + 1) times without using a spell slot per long rest. The name, mood at the time, and alignment (if detected) of the target automatically become written on “The List” and can be updated by casting Heart Sight on the same target again. You can also detect the general direction of anyone on the list within 30’ provided they are not behind full cover.
Additional Mystical Arcanum
In Addition to the normal Mystical Arcanum listed in the PHB, the following is added to your list of options upon reaching the appropriate level:
Summon Holiday Treant

You can communicate telepathically with this Treant and it can respond telepathically using any language you know. It retains its memories between summonings.
The Treant is friendly to you and your companions for the duration. The Treant has its own turns, and it rolls its own initiative. It obeys any verbal commands that you issue to it (no action required by you).
The Treant disappears when it drops to 0 hit points or the spell ends. See Appendix: Summons for Treant Stats
