Purple Dragon Knight / Banneret
A banneret prefers to lead through deeds, not words. As a banneret spearheads an attack, their actions can awaken reserves of courage and conviction in allies that they never suspected they had. A lone banneret is a skilled warrior, but a banneret leading a band of allies can transform even the most poorly equipped militia into a ferocious war band.
Banneret Archetype Features
| Fighter Level | Feature |
|---|---|
| 3rd | Rallying Cry, Inspiring Surge |
| 7th | Royal Envoy |
| 10th | Flagship Endurance |
| 15th | Bulwark |
Rallying Cry
When you choose this archetype at 3rd level, you learn how to inspire your allies to fight on past their injuries.
When you use your Second Wind feature, you can choose up to three creatures within 60 feet of you that are allied with you. Each one regains hit points equal to 1d10 + your fighter level.
Starting at 18th level, the chosen creatures also gain temporary hit points equal to your fighter level + your proficiency bonus.
Inspiring Surge
At 3rd level, when you use your Action Surge feature, you can choose one creature within 60 feet of you that is allied with you.
That creature can use its reaction to move up to half its movement and make one weapon attack or cast one cantrip that requires an attack roll, provided that it can see or hear you. The allied creature makes its attack roll with advantage, and this movement does not provoke opportunity attacks.
Starting at 18th level, you can choose two allies within 60 feet of you, rather than one.
Royal Envoy
Starting at 7th level, you gain proficiency in the Persuasion skill and two of the following skills of your choice: Acrobatics, Animal Handling, Athletics, History, Insight, Intimidation, Perception, and Survival.
Your proficiency bonus is doubled for any ability check you make that uses Persuasion.
Flagship Endurance
Starting at 10th level, you gain an additional use of your Second Wind and Action Surge features.
Bulwark
Starting at 15th level, you can extend the benefit of your Indomitable feature to your allies.
When you decide to use Indomitable to reroll a saving throw, you can choose any number of allies within 120 feet of you that also failed their saving throws against the same effect. Those creatures can reroll their saving throws and must use the new roll.
You can expend a use of Indomitable this way even if you succeed the saving throw, but an allied creature subjected to the same effect fails.
What's Different?
- Rallying Cry heals for an additional 1d10, and upgrades at level 18 like Inspiring Surge. Works on unconscious allies now.
- Inspiring Surge was moved to level 3, and it now allows the ally to move and attack with cantrips.
- Royal Envoy grants 2 more skills and has an expanded list.
- Added Flagship Endurance, a bonus feature that keeps the Banneret's identity as "the Fighter that uses Second Wind and Action Surge."
- Bulwark affects all nearby allies, and you can use it even if you succeed, but someone else fails.
- Designed to feel like a better Banneret, nothing more.
