Path of the Revenant

While all barbarians are known for their physical might and battle prowess, some of these warriors are pushed beyond even their preternatural limits. Perhaps the leaders of their tribe subjected them to alchemy and necromancy, or they are possessed by vengeful spirits of the past, or they simply adopted dark and desperate means to strengthen themselves at any cost-- but all barbarians of this path are capable of uncanny physical feats, more akin to those of a zombie or construct than a person.

Optional: Undeath

This primal path is written to represent a mortal touched by undeath or subjected to evil rituals, but you may wish to be an actual revenant, or a corpse possessed by a spirit. Discuss the possibility of changing your type from humanoid to undead with your DM.

Pursuit of Vengeance

When you pursue this path, you are able to invoke a rite of cruel and single-minded focus, meant to terminate a specific target. When you enter rage, you may invoke this rite and choose one creature you can see within 120 feet of you. This rage is abnormal in the following ways:

  • You must attack the target on your turn if able.
  • You have advantage on on any Wisdom (Perception) or Wisdom (Survival) check you make to find your target.
  • While you can see your target, any effects causing you to be charmed or frightened are suppressed.
  • Your attacks have disadvantage against all creatures that aren't your chosen target.
  • Your rage ends if your hit points drop to 0 or the target dies, otherwise it lasts the full duration.
  • At the end of your target's turn, you may use your reaction to move up to half your speed in their direction. During this movement you may choose to not provoke attacks of opportunity. In addition, if you make an attack of opportunity against your target, you may move in this manner as part of the same reaction.

Once you use this feature, you must complete a short or long rest before you use it again.

Ichor Blood

Additionally at 3rd level, a spark of unlife sustains you. When you finish a long rest, you gain a number of temporary hit points equal to your barbarian level plus your Constitution modifier. When you spend a hit die to recover health, you may also gain temporary hit points equal to 1d4 plus your Constitution modifier.

Unnatural Resilience

At 6th level, choose two of the following damage types: acid, cold, force, necrotic, poison, or psychic. You are resistant to the damage types you choose. Each time you gain an ability score increase or a feat, you may replace one of your choices with another from the same list.

Implacable Advance

At 10th level, when you use your Pursuit of Vengeance feature, nothing can stop you from reaching your target. While raging in this way, you may spend 5 feet of your movement to shove a creature, up to once each turn.

In addition, any time you successfuly shove a creature you may choose to deal bludgeoning damage to it equal to your unarmed attack damage.

Unstoppable

At 14th level, when you begin raging, you may choose to receive the benefits of the freedom of movement spell for the duration of the rage. You may use this feature once for free, and each subsequent use before a long rest requires you to expend an additional use of rage.
