Snow Elves

Snow elves are the ruthless, hardened and slightly psychotic counterpart to their more civilized and softer cousins. Living apart from most other races for so long means that the fey spirit lives well inside most snow elves, and they love to trick and play pranks on anyone they find wandering the blizzards and snow. That is until they kill them.

Snow Elf Traits

As a snow elf, your traits are a mixture of traditional elven traits and the changes the subrace has gone through after centuries of living in the frozen tundra.

Ability Score Increase. Your Dexterity score increases by 2, and your Wisdom score increases by 1.

Age. Like most traditional elves your life span tends to be around 750 years, though many snow elves have reported to live into a new millennium .

Alignment. Snow elves hold more of their Fey nature than their other elven cousins. Most are Chaotic in nature. Whether they are good, neutral or evil depends on their mood in the moment and can change very readily.

Size. Your size is Medium. Height and Weight tend to be similar to that of other elves.

Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Darkvision. You are accustom to the short days and low light that exists in the arctic climates. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Keen Senses. You have proficiency in the Perception skill.

Fey Ancestry. You have advantage on saving throws against being charmed, and magic can't put you to sleep.

Trance. Elves don’t need to sleep. Instead, they meditate deeply, remaining semiconscious, for 4 hours a day. (The Common word for such meditation is “trance.”) While meditating, you can dream after a fashion; such dreams are actually mental exercises that have become reflexive through years of practice. After resting in this way, you gain the same benefit that a human does from 8 hours of sleep.

Languages. You can speak, read, and write Common and Elvish. Elvish is fluid, with subtle intonations and intricate grammar. Elven literature is rich and varied, and their songs and poems are famous among other races. Many bards learn their language so they can add Elvish ballads to their repertoires.

Mask of the Wild. You can attempt to hide even when you are only lightly obscured by foliage, heavy rain, falling snow, mist, and other natural phenomena.

Acclimatized. You ignore difficult terrain created by ice or snow. You can tolerate temperatures as low as −50 degrees Fahrenheit without any additional protection. If you wear heavy clothes, you can tolerate temperatures as low as −100 degrees Fahrenheit.

Snow Magic Due to living in snowy conditions for many years, and due to elves natural affinity for magic, Snow Elves can cast Snilloc's Snowball Swarm once as a 2nd-level spell, and you regain the ability to cast it this way when you finish a long rest. Wisdom is your spellcasting ability for this spell.
