College of the Ensemble

The Harmony Behind the Melody

Not everyone is a soloist. Some very talented musicians find their place in the chorus or the orchestra. No one knows the importance of a wall of support like a member of the Ensemble

Subclass Features

Rhythmic Foundation

The chorus or the orchestra are the base upon which great soloists build. In order to support the forward players, you gain the Guidance cantrip and its range increases from Touch to 30ft when you join this college at 3rd level. It does not count against the number of Bard cantrips you know, but you cannot cast it on yourself.

Supportive Voice

Beginning at 3rd level, when you grant a Bardic Inspiration die to a creature, it cannot roll less than your CHA modifier on that die.

Caesura

Within the build of an orchestra or chorus, there are moments where the ensemble suddenly ceasing can draw dramatic attention to the soloist. With a dramatic pause at an opportune moment, you can spur your soloists to greater heights. By 6th level, when you cast a spell that restores hit points and roll a 1 or a 2 on the die, you may reroll those dice and must use the new roll.. Additionally, you can cast each of the spells Aid, Blur, and Mirror Image once without a spell slot before a long rest. The College of the Ensemble variants of these spells count as Bard spells for you, do not count against your spells known, have a range of 30 feet, and cannot target the caster. Aid is cast as a level 3 spell.

Subito Forte

With a violent burst of sound, your audience is hit with the immediacy of the moment. Your soloists are pushed forward even as you momentarily take center stage and full attention. At 14th level, as a bonus action, you can choose a number of creatures up to your remaining uses of Bardic Inspiration and grant each of them two Bardic Inspiration die. This feature consumes all remaining uses of Bardic Inspiration. If you choose to make a melee attack as your action in the same turn that you use this feature, you may make one Extra Attack as a part of that action.
