A ranged nail has a range of 20/60, if you hit with a melee or ranged attack you deal piercing damage equal to 1d4 + your Strength or Dexterity modifier, instead of a bludgeoning damage for unarmed strike. Whenever you run out, you must take a short or long rest to regrow more.

Instinctive Intuition. You have proficiency in two of the following skills of your choice: Insight, Intimidation, Medicine, Nature, Perception, Stealth, and Survival.

Barbed Skin. Your skin is covered in hundreds of finer barbed needles. Naturally at the start of each of your turns, you can deal 1d6 piercing damage to a creature you are currently grappling or being grappled by.

Photosynthesized. Whenever you are in the daylight and take a Short or Long rest, you halve your time required to gain the benefits of said rest (=Short Rest 30 minutes, Long Rest 4 Hours). You are also conscious during either rest. If the rest ever starts within the daylight and becomes night, you then re-double the amount of time left to finish either rest.

I am Plant. You can attempt to hide even when you are lightly obscured by foliage, heavy rain, sandy winds, mist, and other natural phenomena.

Languages. You can speak, read, and write Common and Plantoid. Floran being a rather cricket or gutteral language akin to mimicking the sounds of the forest, like piddles of rain drops on a leaf, or a natural bristle of leaves.

Floran

FLORAN MUST EAT. THORN SHARP. FOOD there! Kill, Rip, Tear! Drink, Chew, Gulp! Floran best at what do!

~ Chief Xhuatopek, of the Village of Spires

The Floran are a practical race of carnivorous plant-like humanoids with a need to hunt. Like a plant, they overcome harsh environments and flourish seamlessly in them, being able to overrun the fragments of civilization and refurbish it for their own designs. Most venerate a god of the hunt or wilds, and some take varying methods to acquire differing spoils of food, fresh or rotten.

The Blood must Flow

Floran anatomy is dictated by their desert-born origins. Left to live in squalid wastes, often acting as living bait for desert creatures, they are plant-made sinew and muscle, with a conscience mind that only desires the satisfaction of their hunger. Floran are born from the dirt and sand, and grow to frightening heights as they age. As long as their primal hunger is satiated, Florans individually grow as a solitary creature, and as part of a tribe, grow as a community.

Florans care not for their origin, neither show pride or a sense of a collective. What is the most important to a floran is what is has eaten, though it cannot even come close to interpreting the major importance between its prey other than bodily mass thats gone into its gullet.

Cactus Characteristics

The Floran exhibit a main focal point, being either a small plume of a varying desert flower in the males, or a large impressive display of flowers atop their head like a full scruff of hair in the females. Aside from that, they exhibit dangerous sharp clawlike spiked ends at their fingertips, retractable, detachable, and deadly, of which regrows back in an instance. Additionally, thorns sprout in almost hair-like clumps across the whole of their body, from head to toe.

Florans are opportunistic and patient, perhaps even spending between months awaiting a meal if they know one is to come. A floran uses its advantage of its false plant-like appearance to fool would-be prey into falling into a situation favorable for the floran, to which it then strikes.

Maniacally Gluttonous

A Floran radically changes in an environment favorable for its grand design of eating. Florans that end up learning in the ways of proper assassination techniques or martial combat use their greater intelligence and their natural capabilities to become truly vicious foes. Florans will adapt in the greater favor of their own interests, making sure to side with an ally that allows them to consistently have access to meals and minimize risks to itself, going so far as to even just masquerade as would-be garden plants or mercenaries.

Just as easily though, is it possible for a Floran to understand concepts such as money if it allows them to convene with societies to get food, or for Florans to comprehend the greater aspects of the world and its various environments,... to understand where the best food is acquired.

Floran Personalities

The Floran are truly savage for their plant-like nature, and live in communal tribes often gaining attachment to the people they travel with like growing roots in the earth,.. as long as they're fed.

Floran Quirks
d6 Quirk
1 Meat tastes like meat, but your favorite meat tastes delicious.
2 Life as a plant isn't so bad, but life as a hunter is far more exciting.
3 The sun is my favorite thing in the sky, and I hate clouds!
4 I love keeping little trinkets and prizes from those I kill and especially eat.
5 I enjoy the colors of the desert sands, but a little green is always nice too.
6 My favorite liquid is blood. Followed closely by water.
The Desire of Hunger

In the Floran's home-realm of the Veedees Desert, Florans and many other desert-dwelling races must do anything it takes to survive the harsh reality of the sands. Florans who retain a greater calling of "Hunger" as they would describe it. Either in the following of a greater Faith or manifested desire, like a hunger for wealth or knowledge, an important part of roleplaying a Floran revolves around Hunger to fill whatever is empty in themselves.

Of course, a Floran doesn't always necessarily need to be of Cactus origin. It could be that your Floran is a mass of vines with sharp thorns or a hulk of log that has plenty of splinters.
