### Grappling Hand-Hook *Wondrous item, rare (requires attunement)* This hook can either be held in one hand or worn as a prosthetic in place of a missing hand. If worn as a prosthetic, you can detach or reattach it as an action, and it can't be removed against your will. It can replace any function of a hand that a hook could manage, but can not be used for fine movements that require multiple fingers, including somatic spell components. It detaches if you die. The hook of this item is attached to the base by a 60 foot long magical tether, and can be shot out with significant force, allowing it to be used as a weapon, lasso, or grappling hook. The tether can only be cut if more than 30 magical slashing damage is dealt to it in a single attack. The tether will regenerate if you manually reattach the hook to the base. The hook is a simple weapon with the statistics of a dagger, and counts as a dagger when determining weapon proficiency. If you make a thrown attack with the hook, the tether will return it to you at the end of your turn, no action required. ***Lasso.*** As an action, you can attempt to wrap someone up in the hook's magical tether. One creature of your choice within 30 feet of you makes a DC 14 Dexterity saving throw. On a failed save, the creature is grappled by your hook, and restrained for as long as its grappled. The escape DC for the grapple is 14. The grapple ends if you move more than 30 feet away from the creature, or if you use the hook for anything besides holding the grapple. Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a short or long rest. ***Grappling Hook.*** As a bonus action, you can shoot the hook at a point that you can see within 60 feet of you. There must be a straight unobstructed line between you and the point you target, and there must be something secure for the hook to latch onto, such as a ledge, a chandelier, or a pillar. The hook attaches to that point, but detaches if you recall the hook (no action required) or you move more than 60 feet away from the target point. Once the hook is attached to a point, you can use an amount of movement equal to your walking speed to retract the tether, pulling yourself to that point. You land in a space within 5 feet of the point, and the hook detaches. If there is no safe and stable ground to land on you may need to make an Athletics or Acrobatics check at your DM's discretion to avoid falling, landing prone, or suffering some other consequence. \columnbreak ***Swinging.*** Sometimes, depending on the point you grapple onto with the grappling hook, you may be able to swing from the tether. Swinging takes an amount of movement equal to your walking speed. When determining if you can swing and how far you can go, two measurements matter. First is the **horizontal distance,** which is the distance between you and the space directly below the hook, ignoring elevation. The second is the **vertical distance**, which is how high up the hook is relative to your elevation. In order for swinging to be possible, the vertical distance must be greater than or equal to the horizontal distance. When you swing, you move in a straight line towards the point directly below the hook. You can also move an additional number of feet up to the horizontal distance past the point below the hook. For example, if the hook is to the north and the horizontal distance is 20 feet, you can use it to swing 40 feet to the north. The DM may rule that swinging is not possible, or that swinging is possible when it normally would not be according to these rules, depending on what obstacles or aids may be in your environment.
