Path of the Rage Channeller

Rage Channellers are barbarians who are conscientious of how their anger can affect the world and the people around them. As their awareness grows, this takes on a more literal meaning, as they become able to wield rudimentary magic.

Rage Channellers can be easily distinguished from other barbarians, for in their frothing rage there are moments of perfect clarity as they bellow words of power and slam their heels against the ground, unleashing spells bolstered by focused fury.

Spellcasting

When you reach 3rd level, you learn to focus and direct your anger so that it resonates with the world around you.

Cantrips

You learn three cantrips of your choice from the druid or sorcerer spell list. You learn another druid or sorcerer cantrip of your choice at 10th level.

Spell Slots

The Rage Channeller Spellcasting table shows how many spell slots you have to cast your spells of 1st level or higher. To cast one of these spells, you must expend a spell slot of the spell's level or higher. You regai n all expended spell slots when you finish a long rest.

Spells Known of 1st Level and Higher

You know three 1st-level druid or sorcerer spells of your choice, two of which you must choose from the evocation spells on the druid or sorcerer spell list.

The Spells Known column of the Rage Channeller Spellcasting table shows when you learn more druid or sorcerer spells of 1st level or higher. Each of these spells must be an evocation spell of your choice, and must be of a level for which you have spell slots. For instance, when you reach 7th level in this class, you can learn one new spell of 1st or 2nd level.

The spells you learn at 8th, 14th, and 20th level can come from any school of magic.

Whenever you gain a level in this class, you can replace one of the druid or sorcerer spells you know with another spell of your choice from the druid or sorcerer spell list. The new spell must be of a level for which you have spell slots, and it must be an evocation spell, unless you're replacing the spell you gained at 3rd, 8th, 14th, or 20th level from any school of magic.

Spellcasting Ability

Wisdom is your spellcasting ability for your druid and sorcerer spells, as you bring your rage in tune with your hated foes and valued allies. You use your Wisdom whenever a spell refers to your spellcasting ability. In addition, you use your Wisdom modifier when setting the saving throw DCs of your druid and sorcerer spells and when making an attack with them.

Rage Casting

Starting at 3rd level, you are able to cast and concentrate on spells while raging. Also while raging, you have advantage on Constitution saving throws made to maintain concentration on a spell.

Arcane Havoc

At 6th level, you are able to lash out at your foes with both might and magic in devastating tandem. As an action, you make one melee weapon attack and cast one spell of 1st through 5th level.

The weapon attack and the spell you cast must target the same creature. If the spell occupies an area, it must include that creature, and it must be centered on that creature if possible.

If the spell you chose deals damage, you may add your Strength modifier to one damage roll of the spell.

Additionally, you and any other creatures you choose who are affected by the spell you cast gain resistance to damage dealt by the spell and advantage on saving throws against it.

You may use this ability once during each of your rages.

Dispelling Shout

At 10th level, you are able to gather the magic deep within you and exhale it as a sharp, destructive cry that distorts other magic around you.

As an action, you dampen magic around you out to a range of 30 feet. Creatures you choose in the area have disadvantage on the next saving throw they make against spell you cast before the end of your next turn.

Additionally, choose any one creature, object, or magical effect within range. Any spell of 3rd level or lower on the target ends. For each spell of 4th level or higher on the target, make a Wisdom ability check. The DC equals 10 + the spell's level. On a successful check, the spell ends.

You may use this ability once during each of your rages.

Transcendent Rage

At 14th level, your focus is so great that being in a rage is a rhythmic, nearly meditative state for you, one that actively aids your spellcasting.

While you are in a rage, all of your spells are cast as if they were the level of your highest level spell slot.

Variant Rule: Loose Restrictions

For groups that have loosened or removed spell school restrictions for other subclasses, such as the Arcane Trickster or the Eldritch Knight, the following rule can be used to give Rage Channellers more options.

Under this rule, Rage Channellers are able to learn druid or sorcerer spells of the conjuration, divination, evocation, or transmutation schools. They may only select spells from other schools at 3rd, 8th, 14th, or 20th level, as normal.
