Twin Feats v2.1

The following feats are intended to be used by players whose characters are twins, identical or fraternal, players who have an identicle clone, or between two players who are soulmates. They seek to emmulate some of the special abilities and connections twins appear to have as well as provide some unique mechanics and abilities to their characters.

Soulmates. The definition of a soulmate is left up to you and your DM. This could be an in-story descrioption, a mechanic like a feat, or whatever definition you and your DM agree on. The idea is that two (or more) people would be connected on an emotional and personal level beyond that of friends or lovers.

Locate Twin

Prerequisites: Must be/have an identical or fraternal twin, a clone, or a soulmate

You and your twin are so in sync, you are able to sense their location.

  • Increase either your Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma by 1, up to a maximum of 20.
  • You gain advantage on any skill rolls to locate, track, or follow your twin.
  • While your twin is within 120 feet of you, you always know the general direction and distance to them.
  • Once per short rest, you may cast the locate creature spell as a ritual. If the spell is used to locate your twin, you do not need the material components, you are able to detect them even if in a different form, and you may detect them up to 1 mile. If they are outside this radius, you are able to tell if they are on the same plane.

Special. If both twins take this feat, the casting time is reduced to 5 minutes and the range increases to 5 miles. If your twin has the twin telepathy feat and you are able to successfully locate them on the same plane, they may cast the message spell once targeting you regardless of the distance between you.

Ranged Twin

Prerequisites: Must be/have an identical or fraternal twin, a clone, or a soulmate

Your twin acts as a spotter, granting you better accuracy with ranged weapons and spells.

Your dexterity score increases by 1 point, to a maximum of 20.

If your twin has an unobstructed view of a target, you gain the following benefits:

  • You may ignore up to half-cover when attacking that target with a ranged weapon or spell.
  • Attacking at long range doesn't impose disadvantage on your ranged attack rolls.
  • If a target is beyond your ranged weapons long range, you may add the short range to the long range for an extreme range attack at disadvantage, and you do not ignore any cover.
  • When you cast a spell that requires you to make an attack roll, the spell’s range is doubled.

Special. If both twins take this feat, you may ignore up to three-quarters cover in short range, and gain advantage to your ranged attack rolls at short range. If your twin has the twin telepathy feat, you may ignore three-quarters cover in short and long range, and half-cover in extreme range.

Twin Fighting

Prerequisites: Must be/have an identical or fraternal twin, a clone, or a soulmate

You and your twin are so in sync that you are able to support each other in fights, almost as if you were of one mind.

  • When you cast a spell with a range other than self or touch, your twin may act as an extension of yourself for the purposes of determining range

  • If the spell has a range other than touch or self, the maximum distance is increased by 50% (round down).
  • If the spell has a duration other than instant, the maximum duration increases by 50% (round down)
  • If the spell requires concentration to maintain, only one twin needs to concentrate to keep the spell going (chosen at time of casting). Additionally, concentration for that spell may be passed between the twins as a bonus action provided that the other twin is not focusing on another spell and is still within eyesight and range of the spell.

Special. Both twins are required to have this feat to gain the benefits from it. This feat may be used with spell scrolls.

Special. If both twins take this feat, the range extends to 30 feet, and your twin shares any damage resistances or immunities you have while within 30 feet.
