A hammer strikes the smoldering flame of a newly forged sword and the sapphire in the blade bites a great cold blue, wrapping its light and strength around the hammer, making every strike this dwarf makes harder and harder, yet more accurate. No matter who an arcane jeweler may be deep down, all have the potential to tap into the magic of gems with the jewelry they wear, so long as they don't mind taking down some notes. ### The Power of Gems Precious gems and crystals hold an innate power to each of them. Rubies hold the magic of fire, topaz hold the magic of thunder, pearls hold the magic of cold, and so on for many many more. By fusing a gem with a piece of jewelry, arcane jewelers can use those powers as their own. However it is only with great dedication to one's research in the field of gemology, can the magic of a gem be understood and controlled. ### Always Learning An arcane jeweler spends most of their time not crafting or fighting, deep in their notebooks studying the various gems they have acquired. Naturally the longer an arcane jeweler spends using the powers of a gem, it will become easier for them to understand other gems of a greater rarity. However, some arcane jewelers get addicted to the concept of researching and will even forgo sleep and suffer from vicious exhaustion just for the chance at a breakthrough of new understanding. ### Creating An Arcane Jeweler As an arcane jeweler you should understand why you have a rush for this rare knowledge. Do you want to become a powerful magic user without studying boring texts like a wizard? Or do you wish to simply become a distinguished artisan of magical and nonmagical valuables? Perhaps you have already felt a connection to these precious gems and want to know more about the innate feeling you have. Do you follow a group of adventurers to just collect the rewards after they fight? Do you stand on the front lines of the guard during the day while studying in a library at night? Or did your family send you out to make something of yourself? No matter what, your understandings are yours alone and you will cause many a stare at your unfamiliar usage of the arcane.

#### Quick Build You can make a arcane jeweler quickly by following these suggestions. First, make Wisdom your highest ability score. Your next-highest score should be Intelligence. These gems are inlaid in jewelry to allow you to use their power as your own. You may have multiple pieces of Arcane Jewelry in your possession, but only a number equal to your Arcane Jewelry Attunement Slots may be equipped and attuned to. \pagebreak ### Arcane Jewelry Attunement Slot Starting at Level 1, you gain 1 Arcane Jewelry Attunement Slot. In order to use a piece of arcane jewelry, you must be attuned to it. You gain an additional slot at Level 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, and 19. You may dequip and deattune from one piece of arcane jewelry or equip and attune a new piece of arcane jewelry as an action. When you equip and attune to a new piece of arcane jewelry, you may use one of its spells as a bonus action. ### Arcane Gemcraft Starting at Level 1 you are able to use a metal piece of jewelry and fuse it with a gem to create a piece of arcane jewelry. This process takes 1 hour per rarity rank of the gem. Once a gem is fused to the jewelry, it is unable to be separated from it. > ##### Gem Rarity Rank > Each gem that can be used by an arcane jeweler has a rarity rank associated with it. The higher the rank, the more rare the gem is. > - Rank 1: Common - (Priced at 50gp) > - Rank 2: Uncommon - (Priced at 100gp) > - Rank 3: Rare - (Priced at 500gp) > - Rank 4: Very Rare - (Priced at 1000gp) > - Rank 5: Legendary - (Priced at 5000gp) ### Gem Spellcasting Wisdom is your spellcasting ability for your arcane jeweler spells. Your magic comes from the innate power within the gems you fuse your jewelry. You use your Wisdom whenever a spell refers to your spellcasting ability. In addition, you use your Wisdom modifier when setting the saving throw DC for an arcane jeweler spell you cast and when making an attack roll with one. ___ - **Spell save DC** = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Wisdom modifier - **Spell attack modifier** = your proficiency bonus + your Wisdom modifier - **Ritual Casting** - You can cast any arcane jeweler spell you know as a ritual if that spell has the ritual tag. - **Spellcasting Focus** - Your pieces of jewelry are the spellcasting foci for your arcane jeweler spells. ### Extra Research When you reach 2nd level, you may attempt to research the powers of a gem of a rarity greater than you know by one rank. To do so, during a long rest, you must succeed in a DC (10 + your number of universal spell slots) Intelligence Saving Throw followed by a DC (10 + your number of universal spell slots) Wisdom Saving Throw. If your save is less than 10, you take 1 level of exhaustion for 1 hour. If your save is less than 5, you take 1 level of exhaustion for 3 hours. On a NAT 1, you take 2 levels of exhaustion for 1 hour. \columnbreak ### Price Of The Unknown When you reach 2nd level, if you try to sell a gem that you do not have fused with a piece of jewelry, it is worth 50% more. However, if that gem is one that you research has yet to understand, it is worth 50% less. ### Gemcrafting Specialty At 3rd level, you choose a Specialty that you focus on: Tailor, Weaponsmith, or Lapidarist. Each is detailed at the end of the class description. Your choice grants you features at 3rd level and again at 7th, 11th, and 15th level.
### Deeper Understanding Starting at Level 3 your research has allowed you to understand the powers of new gems of a higher rarity. At Level 3 you may use Uncommmon, at Level 6 you may use Rare, at Level 10 you may use Very Rare, and at Level 14 you may use Legendary. \pagebreak ### Ability Score Improvement When you reach 4th level, and again at 8th, 12th, 16th and 19th level, you can increase one ability score of your choice by 2, or you can increase two ability scores of your choice by 1. As normal, you can't increase an ability score above 20 using this feature. You can forgo taking that feature to take a feat of your choice instead. You can take each feat only once, unless the feat’s description says otherwise. You must meet any prerequisite specified in a feat to take that feat. If you ever lose a feat’s prerequisite, you can’t use that feat until you regain the prerequisite. ### Nonmagical Jewelry Crafting Starting at 5th level, you gain the ability to craft pieces of jewelry as long as you have the materials to do so. You may spend 1 hour when not in combat to create a piece of nonmagical jewelry. This jewelry is not required to be fused with a gem and can be sold like any other piece of jewelry if you wish. ### Published Research When you reach 18th level, you publish your understanding of each gem that you have researched. As a sort of congratulations gift, you are sent up to 3 gems that you do not already own. The gems you receive are randomized. In addition, types of gems that you have never crafted into jewelry are worth twice as much. \columnbreak ### Soulbound Jewelry At 20th level, you can bind your soul to one of your pieces of arcane jewelry. You can cast the 1st-level spell of that jewelry without spending a spell slot. In addition, whenever you roll initiative, you regain one spell slot, that you can use to cast spells from that piece of arcane jewelry. You can change your Soulbound Gem when you finish a long rest. If you took the *Lapidarist* Specialty and you successfully unfuse the a gem on your Soulbound Jewelry, your hit points are reduced to 1 and you are no longer soulbound to any piece of jewelry. If the gem on your Soulbound Jewelry ever cracks, you take (Xd6 + 6X) force damage, where X is the number of cracks in the gem.
\pagebreak ## Gemcraft Specialty ### Tailor #### Sewing Proficiency Beginning when you choose this specialty at 3rd level, you gain an additional regular attunement slot and proficiency in weaver's tools. #### Gem Based Weaving When not in combat, you gain the ability to take an existing piece of nonmagical clothing and weave a gem into it, which gives the clothing magical properties. This process takes 1 hour per rarity rank of the gem and the clothing becomes a standard wondrous item with rarity the same as a the gem which requires a regular attunement slot. This clothing can be used by anyone with attunement slots. The effects of the wondrous item are dependant upon the gem used. Consult the DM about what the effect is. #### Nonmagical Tailoring At 7th Level, during a short or long rest or when you are alone for an extended period of time you are able to sew a nonmagical article of clothing (provided you have the materials) which you can then use for Gem Based Weaving. You must succeed in a DC 14 Constitution saving throw if you are interrupted to keep your relaxed concentration while sewing. #### Arcane Embellishment At 11th Level, when you sew an article of clothing from scratch you may sew any number of pieces of arcane jewelry (equal to your arcane jeweler level / 5, rounded down) into it. This article of clothing is considered a wondrous item and requires a standard attunement slot to wear. However you wear this article of clothing, the jewelry sewn into it do not take up Arcane Jewelry Attunement Slots. In addition, you gain a number of spell slots equal to the amount of jewelry sewn into the clothing while it is being worn. #### Crystalline Partywear At 15th Level, you tap into the raw potential of the gems you have been so accustomed to using, and with a great enough amount of a gem you gain the ability to create crystalline magical partywear of Legendary rarity. These dresses or suits have a base AC of 16 + your Dexterity modifier to a maximum of 2. They are considered Light Armor. Consult the DM about what the effects of the partywear are.
\pagebreak ### Weaponsmith #### Smithing Potential Beginning when you choose this specialty at 3rd level, you gain an additional regular attunement slot and proficiency in smith's tools. #### Gem Based Forging When not in combat, you gain the ability to take an existing nonmagical simple weapon and forge a gem into it, which gives the weapon magical properties. This process takes 1 hour per rarity rank of the gem and the weapon becomes a standard magical weapon with rarity the same as a the gem which requires a regular attunement slot. This weapon can be used by anyone with attunement slots. The effects of the magical weapon are dependant upon the gem used. Consult the DM about what the effect is. \columnbreak #### True Smith At 7th Level, you are able to create simple weapons yourself, which you can then use for Gem Based Forging. To do so, you spend an hour at a forge (provided you have the materials) to make a nonmagical simple weapon. #### Martial Prowess At 11th Level, you are now able to create martial weapons at a forge and use them in your Gem Based Forging. #### Crystalline Weapons At 15th Level, you tap into the raw potential of the gems you have been so accustomed to using, and with a great enough amount of a gem you gain the ability to create crystalline magical weapons of Legendary rarity. Consult the DM about what the effects of the weapon are.
\pagebreak . \columnbreak ### Lapidarist #### Arcane Ingenuity Beginning when you choose this specialty at 3rd level, you gain an additional Arcane Jewelry Attunement Slot and an additional universal spell slot. #### Lapidary At 7th Level, you gain the ability to cut, shine, and engrave gems. Each one of these processes takes 30 minutes to do. Doing one or more of these adds one additional spell slot exclusive to that gem when it is used in a piece of arcane jewelry. Also doing so to a gem increases the value of the gem when selling it. #### Unfusion At 11th Level, you gain the ability to unfuse a gem from a piece of arcane jewelry. Any added properties given to the jewelry are lost and you must use Arcane Gemcraft to fuse the gem back into a new piece of arcane jewelry. You must make a Wisdom saving throw with a DC of (10 + your number of universal spell slots). On success you safely separate the gem from the jewelry. On failure the gem stays fused to the jewelry and cracks. When you use a spell of a cracked gem, you must roll XD4 where X is the number of cracks in the gem. On a 1, the spell fails but still uses up a spell slot (if not a cantrip). A gem can crack three times and still be usable. If it cracks 4 times, the gem shatters and the jewelry cannot be used again. If a cracked gem is ever successfully unfused, it can be cut to restore it to an uncracked condition. #### Twin Crafting At 14th Level, you may use Arcane Gemcraft to fuse two gems into a singular piece of arcane jewelry. The jewelry will only take up one Arcane Jewelry Attunement Slot.

Wind* (Creatures resistant to lightning or thunder damage are also resistant to wind. Any creature resistant to both lightning and thunder damage is immune to wind. The same as the melee weapon attack used, but the damage is considered magical for the purposes of overcoming nonmagical resistances and immunities. #### Attunement Effect While attuned to, you gain the following benefits: - You can cast the shillelagh cantrip at will, without needing any components. - When you cast the shillelagh cantrip, you can choose to imbue your unarmed strikes with its power. In addition, when you cast this spell, it lasts for 10 minutes. - You can concentrate on the gem power to lose the necessity to eat, breathe or sleep. To gain the benefits of a long rest, you can spend 8 hours engaged in light activity, rather than sleeping during any of it. #### Gem Spells ___ - **1st-level** - feather fall - **2nd-level** - enhance ability - **3rd-level** - haste - **4th-level** - hold monster - **5th-level** - steel wind strike ### Amber The amber is a gem related to the nature, forests and wild places. Damage Type (special). Instead of dealing damage, when you use your Glowing Destruction with your Amber gem attached, you can choose to activate this feature when you hit a target to gain a number of temporary hit points equal to the number rolled on the die + your Intelligence modifier. #### Attunement Effect While attuned to, you gain the following benefits: - You can cast the thorn whip cantrip at will, without needing any components. - When you cast the thorn whip cantrip, you can add your Intelligence modifier to the damage roll. - While concentrating on the amber, your skin become hard as wood.
