His handler Glasp would arrange various contracts, on occasion with criminal organizations. During one of those engagements for a criminal named Bandaph, he killed a lawman named Jaretto, thinking Jaretto was just a rival gang member. A warrant was issued for Barian's arrest and he fled Waterdeep, fearing the authorities. > > He arrived in Saltmarsh. Despite his generally rough demeanor towards strangers, in his heart of hearts he deeply missed his circle back in Waterdeep. He was hoping that Saltmarsh was large, diverse, and distant enough that he might feel comfortable staying a while and making a couple of friends. > > With night approaching, he entered town and inquired after an inn. He was guided to the nearest, The Snapping Line, and headed there to secure lodging. The inn was constructed of the planks and hulls of a bunch of ships, and the faint smell of fish hit him before he even entered. When he did, he checked over his shoulder and scanned the room with his eyes. The decorwasis predictably nautically themed, and most of the patrons were obviously local sailors, fishers, and laborers telling stories and tying one on. The exception was one green fellow of indeterminate race - he had green skin and little tusks like a half-orc, but an entirely different build. Barian noticed him without indicating that he had, and approached the innkeep behind the bar. She introduced herself as Hanna Rist - owner, innkeep, and bartender. Barian began to discuss pricing for room and board. > ### Allies, Enemies, and Organizations > ***Glasp*** is my criminal contact and handler in Waterdeep. I can probably get messages to and from him no matter where I am. > > ***Bandaph*** was the criminal boss I was doing a job for when I accidentally killed a lawman. > > ***Twixt*** and ***Nether*** are a halfling and human criminal enforcement duo from Waterdeep. They work for someone up the chain of command from Bandaph. I think I caught a glimpse of them in Saltmarsh.
