Mastery Path: Brewing
Myrias is home to dozens upon dozens of different spirits, ales, and all manner of inebriatives! Enter the brewers, the heroes of the common folk who drown the sorrows of those who can't get over the fact that their fields were burnt down by foreigners, or their kin murdered by a band of rogues. No matter the scenario, one can always rely on the nearest tavern to help them live another day.
The brewers of Verifoss have turned this hobby into a craft, however, and started using these brews as pregame when going on missions! These brews, however, are stronger and more specialized than the average slew that you find in the land, with the specific intention of bolstering abilities of its constituents.
This is playtest material for the Myrias campaign setting.
This material is categorized under the homebrew mechanics for Masteries. Note that almost all of this information is subject to change. Effects, prices, difficulty classes can change in future revisions. Updates are generally not retroactive unless specifically stated otherwise.
Becoming a Brewer
Upon taking this Mastery at level 1, you gain proficiency in Brewer's Tools or Cook's Tools, and you are able to produce and brew drinks or food respectively that you can distribute and drink at leisure. Choosing either proficiency has no
Creating Brews
At the end of every mission, you may explain to the DM that you mean to brew something. You may choose from the list of craftable drinks available at your mastery level and spend the gold required to make it. After deciding what you're making, you will make a Dexterity or Charisma-based Brewer's Tools check to see if the brew was a success.
Alternative: Cooking
The player can opt to instead gain proficiency in Cook's Tools in order to make use of this mastery. Doing so grants no mechanical advantage to the mastery.
Consuming Brews
The consumption of a brew takes 10 minutes. This process can be expedited and the brew can be consumed as an Action, but the character must succeed on a DC 20 Constitution Saving Throw or begin retching for the next minute, becoming incapacitated and gaining no benefit from the brew.
A fully consumed brew lasts until the end of the session it was consumed in. Consuming other brews after this one will cancel out the old effect.
Furthering Your Mastery
For each mastery point you invest in Brewing beyond the first, you must choose an origin that you will specialize in. Whenever you create a brew of that specific origin, you gain new benefits as listed below:

You are able to make drinks that are accessible by your mastery level in brewing. For example, if you have two mastery levels in brewing, you are able to make drinks that are of Tier 2 and below.

Deceptively aromatic. Helped soldiers sleep during Primal Age.

Enhanced. You can use this feature twice in a session instead of once.
Sanschloss Firewater
Known to disinfect and close wounds. Made from unicorn blood.

Effect: Whenever you begin your turn with at least 1 hit point, you regain a number of hit points equal to your proficiency bonus.
Burk's Hard Lemonade
Tastes nothing like lemonade. Also, is not hard.

Effect: When you die, everything you are wearing and are carrying on your person disintegrates and you reincorporate in your room, alive.
Enhanced. When this effect triggers, magic items do not disintegrate.
Orlchateau Limoncello
A popular liqueur made of lemon zest that is only consumed by the nobility of Ryx. Possesses strong citrus notes.

Hyelokampos Sherry
A fortified wine that originated from Hyelokampos to the north of the Azure Empire. One famous short story has even been written about one of its subtypes: amontillado.

Effect: When you die, everything you are wearing and are carrying on your person disintegrates and your body reincorporates in your room. Should you not have a room to spawn in, your body reincorporates outside the nearest guildhall.
