Martial Archetypes
Dancer
Grace, Elegance, and style. Your fighting could almost be confused for performative art, blending attacks and agile movement. Dancers specialise in using light weaponry, such as daggers and darts, and combining it with their quick movement. They are difficult to lock down and even more difficult to hit, all whilst being able to deal with melee and ranged combatants.
Bonus Proficiencies
3rd-level Dancer feature
You gain proficiency in Acrobatics and Performance.
Elegant Fighting
3rd-level Dancer feature
Your fighting style is more akin to dancing, weaving strikes and flourishes together to overwhelm and mesmerise your opponents. As a bonus action, you begin your performance, gaining the following benefits for 1-minute;
-
You gain a bonus to your AC equal to your Charisma modifier, so long as you aren’t wearing armour or using a shield.
-
You are able to Dash or Disengage as a bonus action.
-
You have advantage on Dexterity (Acrobatics) and Charisma (Performance) checks.
-
When you attack a creature with a light weapon, you can use your off-hand to draw and thrown a separate weapon at another creature as part of the same attack. The thrown weapon must have the finesse and thrown properties to be eligible and the targeted creature must be within the thrown weapons range. A creature can only be targeted by this additional attack once per action, using Action Surge allows a creature to be targeted a second time. This additional attack is not compatible with attacks made using your bonus action.
You can use this feature twice, regaining all expended uses when you finish a short or long rest.
Graceful Acrobatics
7th-level Dancer feature
You gain the ability to move along vertical surfaces and across liquids on your turn without falling during your move.
Quick Step
10th-level Dancer feature
You are capable of moving great distances in a flash. As a bonus action, you can instantly jump to an unoccupied space you can see within 5 feet of creature hit by Elegant Fighting’s additional thrown attack. This movement doesn’t provoke opportunity attacks. To be eligible, the creature must’ve been hit on your current turn and there must be nothing physically stopping you from reaching the creature, such as; being stuck in a cage, restrained by a spell or grappled. Obstacles like a crevasse, which can be jumped over or walked around, do no impede your movement.
You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses of it when you finish a long rest.
Encore
15th-level Dancer feature
Creatures can now be targeted by Elegant Fighting’s additional throw attack twice per action, instead of once.
Tireless Performance
17th-level Dancer feature
When you roll initiative and have no uses of Elegant Fighting, you regain one use.
