## Gourmand The Jungle, a place of immense danger where hunters quickly turn into the hunted. This is the battleground for a Gourmand clan as they seek out diverse foods. A wounded tiger hides behind lush trees as a gourmand approaches, having adapted to unnatural foods the gourmand eats through the bark of the trees leaving only a slobbery goo behind, yet they are not satisfied with a belly full of wood. Gourmands do not live for the kill, they live for the feast. ## Beast or Monster ### The Gourmand brings back its hunt to their kin, with enough animals the clan can celebrate as they have thrived another day. Merriment and dances occurs throughout the encampment. The Gourmands in their primitive clothing and humble huts would seem simple to some at first glance, that is unless one were to stick around for the feast and see their true nature. The dancing ends when night approaches this is when the feast begins, the larger animals are prepared by the chefs for the main course the other animals are appetizers, animals such as macaws, snakes, frogs, and sloths are devoured alive, the smallest animals suffer the worst as they're devoured whole. The Gourmands do not find remorse in their meals, as they have come to understand that one day they too might be hunted and they will not receive sympathy from their hunters. ## Hungry Creatures ### A Gourmand is tempted by the instinctual need for flavor, a human would not fight an alligator when they already have plenty of cows, a Gourmand would. Gourmands enjoy foods of all sizes, foods that are smaller than them are the type that can be caught with their tongues while larger objects must be prepared by the chefs using a variety of tools. These tools are knives for most animals and plants or chisels if the clan favors hard minerals. A Gourmand dreams of exotic flavors it cannot find normally, and if a Gourmand grows tired of the same flavor they move onto the next, after enough time passes that flavor they grew tired of may taste new and fulfilling again. Some Gourmands choose to leave their clans solely because they wish to discover the flavors of a completely different place.

## Hunters & Hierarchy ### The Gourmands constantly look out for foods based on daily needs. Hunters are picked out from the clan to seek out the necessary amount, they never go alone. Hunters must work until they bring back a haul. This haul could be a large animal caught using a net, bunches of plants carried by mule, or large rocks of minerals brought in wheelbarrows. A hunter is always accompanied by a scout, which is usually a hunter in training, typically young adults, scouts help by carrying equipment and tending to the injuries of the hunter. Hunters are considered the second highest position in most Gourmand clans, followed by the chefs, preceded only by the chief. Hunters are often the first Gourmands to come across other races in the wild as such they're expected to speak on behalf of their clan.

With a mating season occurring every other year, Gourmand clans are naturally small and this creates an emphasis to protect each other. Leading to a common occurrence of clans merging or Gourmands protecting others across different clans. They usually distance themselves from encroaching settlements of other races, if the clan cannot deal with an issue peacefully they will move, eating whatever cannot be taken. This isn't a huge strain, when a clan moves they will find a place to settle with new foods to try. Most Gourmand clans have around 300 members, the largest grow far greater, but those clans often suffer from eating too many local delicacies and thus needing to disperse. A Gourmand child grows up learning from the community around them, learning survival skills, customs that their clan holds, and how to utilize their natural abilities to their advantage. ## Gourmand Names ### Many gourmands carry two names. The first name is the clan name, a clan name is made based off a local thing the clan enjoys eating most. The second name is one each gourmand comes up with on their own, often this name is made from observations they find about themselves or things they enjoy. Gourmand children aren't expected to have a personal name until they reach adulthood, a group of Gourmand children are called the plural form of the clan name. When a Gourmand chooses to leave and explore the world on their own they can choose to leave their clan name behind, as they aren't expected to return. #### Clan names Tiger, Ox, Eel, Ooze, Kobold, Pixie, Gem, Coral, Gold, Steel, Rose, Ivy, Willow #### Personal names Dreamer, Hopeful, Gorger, Faithless, Strong, Quickfoot, Dancer, Fish, Blades, Star, Moonlight, Scales, Lily, Knight, Shadows, Rainbow
