# Sorcerous Origin: The Cataclysm Your family was marked by destruction. The obliteration of a homeland, the destruction of your people, or some other massive catastrophe has left its mark. You now bear the effects of that mark. ### Cataclysmic Magic At 1st level, your birthright of desolation manifests in destructive magic. You learn additional spells when you reach certain levels in this class, as shown on the Cataclysm Spells table. Each of these spells counts as a sorcerer spell for you, but it doesn't count against the number of sorcerer spells you know. ##### Cataclysm Spells | Sorcerer Level | Spells | |:---:|:-----------:| | 1st | *catapult, thunderwave* | | 3rd | *heat metal, shatter* | | 5th | *erupting earth, pulse wave* | | 7th | *gravity sinkhole, storm sphere* | | 9th | *destructive wave*, *thunder step* | ### Aegis of Ruin Starting at 1st level, your magic forms a ward to protect you. As a reaction when you take damage, you can expend a spell slot to absorb some of the energy, reducing the damage by 1d10 for each level of the spell slot. You can release the ward as an action, dealing damage equal to the amount of damage absorbed to all creatures within a 20 foot radius. Starting at 2nd level, you can use sorcery points in addition to spell slots, reducing damage by 1d10 for each sorcery point spent. ### Symbol of Destruction Starting at 6th level, your destructive power grows. You learn the spell *glyph of warding* and you can spend 1 sorcery point when you cast it to change its casting time to 1 action. ### Destroyer At 6th level, your spells deal double damage to objects. In addition, if you reduce an attacks damage to 0 with your Aegis of Ruin feature, you regain an amount of sorcery points equal to half your proficiency bonus (minimum of one). \columnbreak ### Catastrophic Obsession Beginning at 14th level, whenever you cast a spell that can affect three or more creatures, you can spend 5 sorcery points to deal maximum damage, instead of rolling. ### Ruinstorm At 18th level, your lust for destruction knows no bounds. You can use the *twinned spell* metamagic option on any spell.
