Barbarian Subclass

Path of the Warrior Mystic

Overview on Subclass

Known by many names, on the Path of the Warrior Mystic the barbarian learns to commune with the spirits and energies of the natural world, eventually emulating a primal force of nature themselves. Studying the secrets of nature, the barbarian unlocks spellcraft to aid them in their battles.

Spellcasting

By beginning to attune yourself to the forces of nature, at 3rd level, when you take this Path, you gain the ability to cast spells.

Spell Slots. The Warrior Mystic Spellcasting Table shows how many spell slots you have to cast your spells of 1st level and higher. To cast one of these spells, you must expend a slot of the spell's level or higher. You regain all expended spell slots when you finish a long rest.

Spells Known of 1st-Level and Higher. You know three 1st-level spells of your choice from the Warrior Mystic spell list.

The Spells Known column of the Warrior Mystic Spellcasting table shows when you learn more Warrior Mystic spells of your choice. Each of these spells must be of a level for which you have spell slots. For instance, when you reach 5th level in this class, you can learn one new spell of 1st or 2nd level.

Additionally, when you gain a level in this class, you can choose one of the Warrior Mystic spells you know and replace it with another spell from the Warrior Mystic spell list, which also must be of a level for which you have spell slots.

Spellcasting Ability. Wisdom is your spellcasting ability for your Warrior Mystic spells, since your magic draws on your attunement to the natural world. You use your Wisdom whenever a spell refers to your spellcasting ability. In addition, you use your Wisdom modifier when setting the saving throw DC for a Warrior Mystic spell you cast and when making an attack roll with one.

Battle Magic

Starting at 3rd level, you are able to harness your magic even when overcome by rage.

Choose one Warrior Mystic spell which you know. The spell cannot be a higher level than you can cast per the Warrior Mystic Spellcasting table. You may cast this spell while raging. All other restrictions of the Rage ability still apply.

When you gain a level in this class, you can choose to exchange this spell for another spell of your choice that you know off the Warrior Mystic spell list.

You may pick one additional spell you know off the Warrior Mystic spell list at levels 6, 10, and 14.

Gifts of Nature

At 6th level you learn two cantrips of your choice from the druid spell list.

Additionally, your melee weapon attacks count as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity to nonmagical attacks and damage.

Greater Battle Magic

At 10th level you become more adept at controlling the flow of magic through your body.

You may concentrate on spells as normal while raging.

Channel the Spirits

At 14th level your attunement with the spirits of nature evolves, allowing you to communicate with them directly.

You may cast Commune or Commune with Nature as a ritual.

You must finish a long rest before you can use this ability again.
