Plantificer

Even in the deepest depths of the Feywild, clever inventors use the magical materials around them to craft wondrous creations. Their journey into the jungles of the Feywild leads them to discover dark wood as hard as iron impervious to any burrowing worms, broad leaves with serrated edges that slice up any birds that dare fly through them, and thorns the size of a grown human's arm. With slow care and patience, these Plantificers learn to turn these materials into weapons, armour, and magical items. Their creations are particularly prized by Druids who eschew metal.

Plantficier Spells

3rd-level Plantificer feature

You always have certain spells prepared after you reach particular levels in this class, as shown in the Plantificer Spells table. These spells count as artificer spells for you, but they don't count against the number of artificer spells you prepare.

Artificer Levels Plantificer Spells
3rd Entangle, Goodberry
5th Spike Growth, Pass Without a Trace
9th Plant Growth, Aura of Vitality
13th Grasping Vine, Confusion
17th Tree Stride, Wrath of Nature

Cruelty-free Armoury

3rd-level Plantificer feature

You gain proficiency with heavy armour and martial weapons that lack the two handed property.

You gain proficiency with woodcarver's tools. If you already have this proficiency, you gain proficiency with one other type of artisan's tools of your choice. You can use woodcarver's tools to make plant-based versions of any weapon or armour that is in the Player's Handbook. When you are wielding a plant-based weapon, you can use Intelligence for its attack and damage modifiers.

Locally-sourced Vine

3rd-level Plantificer feature

You always have a living vine around your arm or armour that you can manipulate with amazing precision. The vine has the characteristics of a Mage Hand, with the following additional property -

Once on your turn, as an action or a bonus action, you can extend out the vine to attack an enemy. You must have a free hand to be able to make the attack. Make a melee spell attack against one creature that is within 10ft of you. If the attack hits, the creature takes magical bludgeoning damage equal to 1d6 + your Intelligence modifier. On a successful hit, you can choose to have the vine shove or grapple the creature.

If you choose to shove, the creature is moved 5ft horizontally in any direction of your choice.

If you choose to grapple, the creature needs to make a Strength saving throw. On a failed save, the creature is grappled by your vine. On its turn, the creature can use its action to make an Athletics or Acrobatics check against your Spell Save DC to escape the grapple.

You can end the vine's grapple at any time (no action required). While you maintain the grapple, the hand controlling the vine is considered in-use and cannot be used for other purposes. If you use the vine to grapple a creature that is Huge or larger, your movement speed is reduced to 0 for the duration of the grapple.

The vine is an object with an AC of 14, has hit points equal to 3 + twice your level in this class, is immune to poison and psychic damage, and has resistance to all other damage types except slashing. A vine's grapple ends if it is reduced to 0 HP, but that does not prevent you from manifesting another vine on subsequent turns (no action required).

Organically-grown Cantrip

5th-level Plantificer feature

You learn the Thorn Whip cantrip. If you already know the Thorn Whip cantrip, you learn one other cantrip from the Artificer spell list. The cantrip that you learn from this feature does not count against your maximum number of cantrips known.

After you use your action to cast the Thorn Whip cantrip or to use your Locally-sourced Vine, you can make a weapon attack as part of that same action.

Dark, Leafy Greens

9th-level Plantificer feature

When a creature is grappled by your vine, it is also restrained.

When a creature is shoved by your vine, the distance it can be moved increases to 15ft.

Additionally, whenever you attack with a melee weapon that lacks the two-handed property, its reach increases by 5ft as additional vines help you extend your reach.

Strong Roots, Tough Bark

15th-level Plantificer feature

Your increasing affinity with your plant-based armour gives you the strength to weather many storms. When you take damage of any type except slashing while wearing plant-based armour, you can use your reaction to give yourself resistance to that instance of damage. You can use this reaction a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus.

Additionally, while you are on the ground and wearing a plant-based armour, you cannot be moved or knocked prone against your will.
