Bard
College of Scams
Poetry, music, art, acrobatics, swords, spirits. Those are just a few of the many forms Bards can express their arts. As many forms as there are, Bards are always seeking to improve in their pursuit of something greater, something beyond, something that transcends the common practice. But all rules have exceptions, and some just decided to use their skills to make a lot of money, perfecting the art of fooling the largest amount of people. Those Bards form the College of Scams, an obscure Bardic tradition that has the magic formula for turning spells into money, and to make you into the perfect Con Artist of your dreams. Most members are currently in a Dungeon.
Skills of the Con Artist
3rd-level College of Scams feature
You gain the Persuasion and Deception skills, and your proficiency bonus is doubled in any skill check you make using those skills. You also gain proficiency in artisans tools.
Forge Authenticity
3rd-level College of Scams feature
You learn how to use your magic to make your products more appealing. As an action, you can touch a small object of your choice and spend a spell slot of first level or higher to fake an authentic appearance. A creature that looks at the object will perceive it as an authentic version of whatever you designate it to be. For example, you can touch a a blank canvas to fake the appearance of a famous painting. Any creature that looks at the painting will see the original work (or an authentic copy, if you so choose). A creature that attempts to verify the authenticity of the object must first succeed on an Intelligence saving throw against your spell save DC, or they will just believe the object as being authentic. If any inconsistencies arise form the illusion, like the fragility of a wooden shield sold as an adamantine shield, any creatures that can notice the inconsistency may also make an Intelligence saving throw, or else they will justify the Inconsistency in other ways. Using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher increases the size category of the object by one size per spell level.
Persuasive Knick
6th-level College of Scams feature
You can twist your bardic inspiration into a way for you to bypass the better judgment of others. You gain the following ways to spend your Bardic Inspiration die:
- You can subtract it from any saving throw made against an enchantment Bard spell you cast.
- You can subtract it from any insight check made to perceive your true intentions
- You can add to any persuasion check you make. You may do this after the roll is made, but before the DM announces the result.
Ponzi Scheme
14th-level College of Scams feature
You learn how to twist your magic into a masterful, Multi-Leveled scam. Whenever a creature fails a saving throw against a enchantment Bard spell you cast of 6th level or lower, you immediately gain a spell slot of 1 level lower than the spell slot you used to cast it. The spell slot can only be used to cast spells from the enchantment school, or to fuel your Forge Authenticity feature.
