Mimic Snake

Mimic Snakes are a type of constrictor snake that choose to allow their meal to come to them rather than hunting for it. They have special slits on their sides or underside called ribbons. These ribbons can be filled with air similar to a frogs vocal sack. The mimic snake can use these ribbons to mimic the sounds of creatures they hear and wish to consume. A mimic snake can have between three to ten ribbons depending on its size and can mimic a number of different sounds accordingly.

Mimic snakes are intelligent and strong but lazy and apathetic. This means that most mimic snakes choose to set up traps for creatures. If a mimic snake has consumed all the natural ambient creatures in the area such as crickets or birds. It may choose to mimic those sounds to reduce suspicion from other creatures.

As mimic snakes get larger they become more intelligent. A larger mimic snake that spends enough time hearing adventurers pass by its home or one that lives near a town may pick up a language or two. Allow it to mimic those languages and vocal patterns of people. As long as a mimic snake has already been satiated it may be inclined to have a conversation with someone if they stumble across a mimic snake. Though more than likely a person would stumble across a mimic snake because it wanted them to.

Mimic snakes range from small to huge. And gain more features and intelligence as they grow.

The mimic snake. A type of constrictor snake that chooses to have its prey come to them and swallow them whole. They mimic the sounds of creatures they wish to feed. Then bring those creatures ever so tantalizingly closer. They say a mimic snake can mimic up to ten creatures at once. Allowing for a cacophony of noise to be heard from only one creature. Using this to fill the void of ambient noise that they create with their own soothing sounds.

There have been stories of mimic snakes that can speak common or other languages. Be wary, as a mimic snake only learns what it wants to eat.
