Way of Arcane Abeyance

Originaly emerging from the Free People of the Arish Plains, this Tradition came about as part of their self imposed penance for Tyrilin's actions and the destruction of Arish. Monks who follow this Tradition excel at countering and foiling spellcasters, helping to make sure that no such event ever happens again.

Arcane Counter

At 3rd level, you are able to focus your Ki to deflect, reflect, and absorb spells. When you are hit by a ranged spell attack, you may use your reaction to reduce the damage by 1d10 + your Wisdom modifier + your monk Level. If you reduce the damage to 0, you can spend 1 Ki point to redirect the spell at a target within the spell's range, using your Wisdom modifier for the attack and damage rolls.

Alternatively, when you reduce a spell's damage to 0, you may instead spend a Ki point to absorb the spell, storing it within your body until the right moment. The first time you hit a creature with an unarmed strike before the end of your next turn, you unleash the spell. The target suffers the effects of the spell as if they had been hit by it, in addition to your unarmed strike.

Spell Denial

Begining at 6th level, you may reach out with your Ki to split and sunder the threads that connect spells to reality. You learn the spells Dispel Magic and Counterspell, and may cast them at 3rd level, using Wisdom as your spellcasting ability. Regardless of what spell you cast, you have a number of uses of this ability equal to your proficiency bonus. You regain all uses of this feature when you finish a long rest.

Improved Arcane Counter

When you reach 11th level, your ability to deflect and reflect spells has improved. When you reduce damage from a spell with Arcane Counter, you can expend Ki points to increase your resistances. For each Ki point you spend, you may roll an additional 1d10 and add it to the damage reduction.

Additionally, you may use Arcane Counter on spells that force you to make a saving throw, but you cannot reflect or absorb these spells.

Spell Breaker

Also at 11th level, whenever you cast a spell using your Spell Denial feature, you may expend 2 Ki points to cast the spell at 5th level.

Magic Dead-Zone

At 17th level, you are able to expand your Ki into a space where magic cannot thrive. As an action, you may cast Antimagic Field. When you do so, the duration is 1 minute, but you, and anything you are wearing and carrying are unaffected. Once you have used this ability you cannot do so again until you finish a Long rest, or expend 10 Ki points to use it again.
