Divine Domain: Ur Domain

by u/Silverblade1234 (updated 8/5/2021)

In some realms, divinity is not the sole province of major deities, distant and all-powerful. These lands are host to a myriad of spirits, demigods, and other lesser divinities that readily offer their blessing in exchange for devotion. Despite their lesser status, these divinities are still mighty within their spheres of influence. Ur Domain clerics worship these lesser divinities, offering supplication and reverence to whichever gods might be present or needed in the moment. Some Ur Domain clerics are mercenary in their faith, seeing the relationship between god and mortal as purely transactional, an exchange that benefits both parties; others are true believers, disciples of the entire spiritual world rather than a specific deity or pantheon. Regardless of their specific philosophy, Ur Domain clerics possess a versatility unmatched by clerics of traditional domains, and can even harness the pure power of divinity itself.

Assume Domain

1st-level Ur Domain feature

Whenever you finish a long rest, you can beseech a lesser divinity for its favor. Choose a divine domain. Until you use this feature again, you gain access to that domain's domain spells, as if you were a cleric of that domain.

Spiritualist

1st-level Ur Domain feature

You gain proficiency in the Religion skill. You also gain one additional cleric cantrip of your choice, which doesn't count against your number of cleric cantrips known.

Channel Divinity: Hallowed Emanation

2nd-level Ur Domain feature

As an action, you can use your Channel Divinity to project a refuge of spiritual power in a 30-foot radius sphere around you. The sphere remains in place after being created. It lasts for 1 minute, until you end your turn outside its area, or until you are incapacitated or die. When you use this ability, choose whether you invoke a manifestation of weal or woe.

  • Weal. Whenever a friendly creature enters the area for the first time on a turn or starts its turn there, it's affected by the bless spell until the start of its next turn.
  • Woe. Whenever a hostile creature enters the area for the first time on a turn or starts its turn there, it must make a Charisma saving throw. On a failed save, it's affected by the bane spell until the start of its next turn.

Divine Conduit

6th-level Ur Domain feature

Calling upon the magic of your divine patrons has become second nature to you. You can use this feature to cast a domain spell without expending a spell slot. You can use this feature multiple times before finishing a long rest, though you can't use it to cast more combined spell levels than half your cleric level (rounded up). You regain the full use of this ability when you finish a long rest.

In addition, you can now use Assume Domain whenever you finish a short or long rest.

Sanctums

Lesser divinities rarely have the raw power to command a plane or demiplane of their own. Instead, they often claim territory sacred to them, suffusing it with a portion of their divine power. These areas are called sanctums, and they share many qualities with demiplanes. Divinities have great power within their sanctums, sometimes even beyond what they normally possess. Sanctums are often lairs (Monster Manual, pg. 11), and may also possess other effects at the DM's discretion, for example those described in the hallow spell. Many lesser divinities rarely leave their sanctums, and all guard them fiercely.

Potent Spellcasting

8th-level Ur Domain feature

You add your Wisdom modifier to the damage you deal with any cleric cantrip.

Blessed Soul

17th-level Ur Domain feature

You have internalized the divine blessings that empower you, and are even able to call upon multiple lesser divinities at once. You gain the following benefits:

  • You gain resistance to necrotic and radiant damage.
  • When you use your Assume Domain feature, you can select two divine domains. You gain access to both domains' domain spells.
