THE AMULET OF LOST SOULS

Wonderous item, Legendary (requires attunement)

At a glance this amulet seems to be a simple chunk of cut ruby on the end of a gold chain, but sometimes, if you listen carefully, you can hear cries of pain from within.

This amulet has a storied past, last owned by a halfling sorcerer, Irea Firetouched of the Grim Accord. Prior to her, an Elven Sorcerer named Klaroven. In a bid for power, Klaroven sealed his students' souls within, this tyranny only coming to an end when one of his students turned the tables, sealing him, too, within.

The amulet has 8 souls contained within. At the end of a long rest, choose a soul. This affects the list of spells you can use from the amulet.

The amulet has 10 charges and regains 1d10 each day at dawn. If you expend the amulet's last charge, roll a d20. On a 1, the soul currently being used is freed, and you can no longer use that spell list. Once the last soul is freed, the ruby within the amulet shatters, and the amulet is no longer considered magical.
