Warlock: The Sapphire Fish
This peculiar patron is a mystical spirit from the Elemental Plane of Water, a sentient fish guardian with a large sapphire gem embedded in its forehead. The Sapphire Fish believes that the creatures of the material plane are peculiar, yet special with limitless potential. Despite the many flawed and even evil individuals that inhabit the world, the material plane is a wonderful and beautiful place, needing protection from those that seek its ruin. Warlocks who form a pact with the Sapphire Fish are given the means to help protect those that need it and to preserve the material plane and all the wonders and beauty it holds.

Sapphire Defender
Starting at 1st level, you are blessed with the proper training needed to protect the weak. You gain proficiency with medium armor, shields, and martial weapons.
The influence of your patron also allows you to mystically channel your will through a particular weapon. Whenever you finish a long rest, you can touch one weapon that you are proficient with and that lacks the two-handed property. When you attack with that weapon, you can use your Charisma modifier, instead of Strength or Dexterity, for the attack and damage rolls. This benefit lasts until you finish a long rest. If you later gain the Pact of the Blade feature, this benefit extends to every pact weapon you conjure with that feature, no matter the weapon's type.
Gemstone Barrier
At 1st level, your magic can be used to protect your allies. Whenever you cast a 1st level spell or higher, choose one willing creature you can see within 60 feet. They gain temporary hit points equal to your warlock level + your charisma modifier. These temporary hit points take the form of a shimmering blue barrier that surrounds the creature. Casting another spell does not grant a creature additional temporary hit points if they are benefiting from this already.
Sapphire Soul
Starting at 6th level, your desire to protect has given you new strengths. You gain resistance to cold damage. You also gain a swimming speed, equal to your walking speed, and you can now speak Aquan. Additionally, while any creature is benefitting from your Gemstone Barrier, they also gain resistance to cold damage.
Protective Shards
At 10th level, your Gemstone Barriers shatter, damaging those near them. When the barrier loses all its temporary hit points, it shatters, damaging any hostile creature within 5 feet of it with cold damage equal to your warlock level.
Sapphire Guardian
At 14th level, your desire to protect those in need manifests. When you see a creature within 60 feet being targeted by an attack, you may use your reaction to magically swap places with the creature, taking the hit instead. After switching places, you immediately gain a Gemstone Barrier. You can do this a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier and regain all uses after a long rest. Additionally, whenever you create barriers with Gemstone Barrier or Sapphire Guardian, you may choose to create two barriers for two creatures, with each gaining half of the total temporary hit points, rounded down.
Aditional Pact Boon
Pact of the Sapphire Shield
Prerequisite: The Sapphire Fish patron
Your patron grants you a sapphire-encrusted shield. This special shield has the stats of a normal shield. However, the sapphires allow for the shield to be used a spellcasting focus for your warlock spells. Additionally, the shield can be used to make an attack. You are proficient in shield attacks, use strength for the attacks, and deals 1d6 bludgeoning damage on a hit.
While the shield may be used as a spellcasting focus, you still must obey the rules of spellcasting, needing a freehand to perform the somatic component of the spell, if required.
If you lose your shield, you may spend 1 hour to beseech your patron for a new shield.
Additional Eldritch Invocations
Protective Fish Scales
Prerequisite: 5th level, the Sapphire Fish patron or the Fathomless patron
You grow sturdy fish scales on your body, permanently increasing your AC by 2 whenever you are wearing light or no armor.
Chromatic Blast
Prerequisite: 5th level, eldritch blast cantrip
You can now change the damage type of eldritch blast from force damage to poison, acid fire, cold, lightning, or thunder damage.
Aiding Blast
Prerequisite: 9th level, eldritch blast cantrip, any spell or warlock feature that creates temporary hit points
Whenever you hit a creature with eldritch blast within 30 feet of someone benefiting from any temporary hit points you created, you can choose to roll a 1d6. One creature with temporary hit points you created within range regains missing temporary hit points equal to your roll, but not exceeding the original amount of temporary hit points gained with your spell or warlock feature. You can use this twice and regain all uses after a short or long rest.
